Review: Kiehls Coriander Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub

As you may have noticed I absolutely love using facial scrubs, though I haven't really explored using body scrubs. Recently, I was given the opportunity to trial Kiehls Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub and I'm glad I came across this scrub as I haven't given much attention to my skin in the past!

Kiehls Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub is packaged in a very convenient plastic tube with a flip-top lid. Kiehls Gently Exfoliating Body scrub is definitely one of those body products which is formulated with an unusual scent/fragrance. There are four scents in this Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub line and they are grapefruit, pear, coriander and lavender. I decided to trial the coriander scented body scrub as I was curious to know what the product would be like. I would have never really picked the scent coriander over lavender, as I absolutely adore the scent of lavender in general.

The scent of coriander from Kiehls Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub was very strange at first as the scent was very different! There was a subtle hint of fresh coriander and when I say fresh I mean that the scent was very refreshing!

When squeezed out of the tube, the scrub appeared to be very foamy and creamy at the same time with a decent amount of exfoliating particles. The exfoliating particles looked more gentle than it appears. The scrub was very nice and worked very well to buff dry areas of my body such as the elbows and knees. One of the key qualities of this scrub I loved is the beautiful and soothing milky consistency the scrub forms after massaging the product onto the skin. My skin feels very smooth and moisturised after using this scrub and this is probably because the scrub contained aloe vera.

Kiehls Gentle Exfoliating Body Scrub is available in a 200ml tube and retails for A$30 at Kiehls counters and online.

Have you adopted Kiehls Gentle Exfoliating Body Scrub for your shower? Which scents from the range would you prefer?

Review: Kosmea Hydrating Rosewater Mist

Kosmea is one of my favourite natural skincare brands as their products are kind to my skin and the beauty of natural skincare products is that they contain ingredients which are good for the skin. I have reviewed and enjoyed using their Daily Facial Exfoliant, you can read my post here.

Toners and mists can be used in a number of ways: it can be used to tone and balance the skin, as a hydrating mist to set makeup or even as a pick-me-up spritz to freshen the skin after a long day.

Kosmea Hydrating Rosewater Mist (A$19.95/125 ml) has the core ingredient Pure Rose Flower Water which hydrates and refreshes my skin. It's very gentle to my skin and also soothes my skin at the same time. I've been using this product to set my makeup and as a hydrating mist to freshen up at the end of the day. The roseware scent is very uplifting and divine! I love how it leaves my skin feeling great and 'energized'. The mist is housed in a plastic spray bottle and it's very handy to keep around the bathroom or office drawer.  The This mist is a definite must-have for my handbag especially during summer.

Hydrating Rosewater Mist is available at David Jones Departments in Australia and online at www.kosmea.com.au.

Do you use toner or hydrating mists? Which toners/mists do you use?

February Bellabox: Valentines Edition

A few days ago I received my February Bellabox and this month, the theme of Bellabox is 'A Little Bit of Love' to celebrate Valentines Day. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the contents of my February Bellabox were wrapt in red tissue paper rather than the usual turquoise coloured tissue paper. Also, my Bellabox was packaged in a Bellabox signature satchel bag rather than the usual turquoise hard cardboard box.

February Bellabox- 'A Little Bit of Love'
Here is what I received in my Bellabox:
Contents in the February Bellabox
Star & Rose Confetti Soap Rose (pink), 1 rose worth ~A$2 (box of 12 A$25.95)
b Collection by Bloom Collecta Eye Shadow in Pink Sands, full size 3.5 g A$9.95
SpaRoma Shimmer Wrap with Jasmine, sample size ~5ml worth ~A$1.50 (full size 150ml A$44.95)
MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Facebase, sample size 10ml worth A$11.65 (full size 30ml A$34.95)
Sasy n Savy Citrus Hand Cream, sample size 5ml worth A$1.50 (full size 50ml A$15)
Chocolate Box Chocolate Hearts

February Bellabox Total worth ~A$26.50

Star and Rose Confetti Soap Rose
As I opened my February Bellabox and unwrapt the items, the first product which caught my eye was the beautiful pink rose which is actually petals of soap combined to form a rose. The rose petal soap is so pretty I'm not too sure that I will use it. I've placed it in the bathroom near the sink and it does give a good look to the bathroom! These rose petal soaps are available in a box of 12 and I think these make a great gift for mum!

b Collection Collecta Eye Shadow in Pink Sands
b Collection is the sister brand to popular cosmetics brand Bloom. The shade I received is called Pink Sands and it's a gorgeous shimmery eye shadow with a copper sheen. The staying power isn't great, so using an eye primer is a must. The miniscule shimmers make this eye shadow perfect for an everyday eye shadow as the finish is not over the top. Using this eye shadow over matter shadows works very wel too.

SpaRoma Body Shimmer Wrap with Jasmine
SpaRoma Shimmer Wrap is the second product I have received from Bellabox since I subscribed last year. There is a subtle scent of jasmine and there are also small amounts of chunky gold glitter. I personally would not use this product as a body shimmer, however, I would consider using this shimmer wrap over eye shadow to add some spark.

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Facebase
MeMeMe is a UK brand and I was very happy to receive a sample of their Seventh Heaven Facebase in my box. Seventh Heaven Facebase is a moisturising primer enriched with shea butter, vitamin A and beta-carotene to rejuvenate, hydrate and nourish the skin. This facebase is scented with lemon zest, orange, lime and mandarin and these scents make this facebase smell lovely! The lightweight texture makes this facebase so easy to evenly distribute across the skin and the fast absorbing properties is another great factor. This primer reminds me a lot like Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base that I absolutely adore. So, MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Facebase is a great alternative to high end brand Bobbi Brown's popular facebase.

Sasy n Savy Citrus Hand Cream
Sasy n Savy citrus hand cream is yet another divine scent in the form of a hand cream. The hand cream is simimlar to a balm and has a lightweight texture. When applied to the skin, the hand cream absorbed through my skin almost instantly! I was very surprised as I've always had to take in some time to massage other hand creams I've used to assist absorption. My skin feels vey hydrated, smooth and supple!

All in all, I'm very happy with the February Bellabox and the contents in my box associates very well with the Valentine's Day theme of A Little Bit of Love.

What did you receive in your Bellabox?

Review: Polished London in Fuschia

Last week I received a bottle of Polished London in Fuschia in my February Valentines Edition Glossybox. I was so excited to receive this shade as I tend to stick to girly bright pinks and reds and it's about time I try a bold shade of pink. Fuschia is a stunning dark and intense Fuschia which provides an extremely glossy finish!

One coat gives an opaque finish and any additional coats adds intensity to the shade. I applied three coats to get a darker intensity and the polish didn't start shipping until 3 days later. The shade looks very elegant and suits every occasion, from casual to formal. I'm so in love with this shade that I wore this shade on my nails a few days ago on Valentine's Day.

Polished London in Fuschia
Polished London Nail Enamel formulas are free from nasty chemicals: toluene, formaldehyde, camphor and DBP.

Polished London retails for rrpA$7.99 for a 10ml bottle and is available in most pharmacies nationally.

Have you tried any shades from the Polished London range? Which colour?
Have you got any special plans for Valentine's Day tomorrow?

Bloom Cosmetics Essentials

Bloom Cosmetics at David Jones has a pretty good Value Beauty Bag on offer at the moment. They have a 6-piece beauty essentials set for $49.95 which is worth $105! That's a really great offer and a great chance to try Bloom's popular products if you haven't used Bloom Cosmetics before. Today I will be reviewing these products that I have fallen in love with recently!

The Bloom beauty bag has a gorgeous floral and bird print and is made from durable PVC. The bag has three mesh compartments inside that you could store lip, eye and makeup/skincare products in each compartment. There is also space on the inside of the bag to store essential makeup brushes.
Bloom Cosmetics Cleansing Wipes

There are 24 wipes in this neat little pack and I'm really surprised that this pack is so much smaller and compact than cleansing wipes from other brands with around the same number of wipes. The wipes are super soft, removes all my makeup effortlessly and leaving my skin feeling refreshed, revialised and clean! However, I did take a little while to completely remove eye makeup and mascara. For eye makeup, I prefer to use a cleansing oil as eye makeup can be quite difficult to remove with just cleansing wipes. These cleansing wipes are very gentle to my skin and don't irritate or dry my skin at all. What I love about these wipes is the beautiful, pleasant and light scent. The wipes are enriched with cucumber, camellia leaf, aloe vera and ginseng extracts.
Bloom Boost Lip Balm in Mango Tango

I love drinking Boost Juice and using lip balm (of course!) and together Bloom and Boost have collaborated to create the Boost Lip Balm Stick! These Boost Lip Balm Sticks are actually oval in shape rather cylindrical. I found that quite interesting and different as I expected that these balms would be round in shape. I'm not much of a fan of fruity scented lip products, however, this is one exception! The scent of Mango Tango is del-i-cious and yummy!! The balms are formulated with soothing beeswax, nourishing jojoba seed oil and moisturising vitamin E. There are 6 flavours in the Boost Lip Balm range which are (surprise, surprise!) named after the popular smoothies and juice crushers at Boost Juice Bars: Banana Buzz, Berry Bang, Mango Tango, Strawberry Squeeze, Tropical Storm and Watermelon Crush.
Bloom Eye Definer in Black

You can't go wrong when using black eyeliner! Bloom's eye lining pencil defines the eyes with their smooth pencils. Just make sure you always have a pencil sharpener on hand in case the tip of the pencil goes round.
Bloom Facial Blotting Tissues

If you have an oily-T-zone like me, then these blotting papers will be your hero! They absorb excess oils on the surface of the skin leaving your face looking a lot less shiny! They are made from rice paper tissue and infused and scented with lavender essential oil. Bloom is so well known for the lavender scented products and being a huge lover for the scent of lavender, these blotting tissues are worth keeping in my handbag!
Bloom Eye Brow Duo in Brown

Bloom's eye brow duo is genius! It's a 2in1 brow perfection tool which has a slanted tip to allow for enhancing and defining the brows. The other end is a transparent gel to set the brows in place. I love how you can apply thin and wide strokes with the slanted tip and this makes filling in the brows so much easier than a regular brow pencil. The shade of the pencil end pictured above is brown and it's not very pigmented. That is a great feature as you would avoid using too much product. The light tint this pencil provides is buildable, so you could achieve perfectly defined and groomed brows.

Overall, I found that Bloom's Value Beauty Bag contains a great variety of essential beauty products for your office desk, travel or even short road trips. It is definitely an offer not to be missed! For $49.95, you are basically purchasing each individual product at half price.

Are you a fan of Bloom Cosmetics? Which products in their range do you love most?

February Glossybox: Valentine's Edition

I usually receive my Glossybox around the 20th of each month, however, this month I received my February Glossybox earlier than usual as it was a Valentine's Edition Glossybox which was advertised to be sent out before Valentine's Day. This month's goodies were housed in a hot pink Glossybox (rather than the usual light pink) to add to the Valentine's Day theme.

The February Glossybox is themed 'Perfectly, Passionately, Pink'.

Here is what I received in my Glossybox:
February Glossybox
Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening Mascara, sample size 3ml worth $24 (full size 6ml rrpA$48)
Jane Iredale Tantasia Self Tanner, sample size ~5ml worth $2 (full size 124ml rrpA$54)
Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash, sample size 60ml worth $5 (full size 475ml rrpA$39.95)
Star and Rose Floral Wonderland Energency Nail Files (price not stated)
Polished London Nail Enamel in Fuschia, full size 10ml rrpA$7.99

February Glossybox Total worth ~$ 39

The beauty samples included in the February Glossybox suited the 'Perfectly, Passionately, Pink' theme as there were products to help me acheive 'extreme lengthening' lashes, the 'perfect' tan, 'perfectly' shaped and pretty in pink nails.

I don't use self tanning products so the Jane Iredale Tantasia will go to my friend. I haven't used Proactiv before and I'm sure the brand has been advertised for people who have acne or sensitive skin. I will give this a go, though I'm still a little hesitant as I have heard that Proactiv wasn't suitable for most people.

I'm really glad that there was a Bobbi Brown mascara included in my box as I have never tried Bobbi Brown mascaras before. I absolutely love their liquid foundations, highlighters, blushers and lipglosses, though for some reason, I never came across their mascara.

The mini nail files are so cute they remind me of Bloom Cosmetics version of mini nail files. They are small enough to fit neatly in my purse and the design looks so cute!

I haven't heard of Polished London before, so it's interesting to see that I could try something new from a brand I have not been exposed to. The shade I received is called Fuschia and I believe the other shade that some people received in their Glossybox was called Bitten Red. I will definitely apply Fuschia to my nails very soon and do a nail of the day post!

All in all, I love how Glossybox decided to house the beauty samples is a hot pink box and that there were also heart lollies to add to the Valentines theme. If only the regular Glossybox was hot pink! I'm glad that there was more than one product I liked and that there was a mix of makeup and skincare products.

What did you receive in your February Glossybox?

Mini Haul: Sally Hansen + GWP at Priceline

There is currently an amazing Sally Hansen Starter Kit at Priceline which is actually a gift with purchase when you spend $20 or more. I just thought that I should share this with you all as I think the little PVC bag is really cute and convenient.

L-R: Vita-A Smoother and Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener
I purchased the Vita-A Smoother Lip Balm ($6.95) as I thought having a lip balm in the form of lipstick was really cute. The flavour of this balm is Peach and the scent reminds me of peach flavoured Ice Tea! There were also other scents with different vitamins to target specific lip concerns.

I also purchased the Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener ($16.95) as my nails are quite weak that I can't allow them to grow as long as I want, otherwise they will chip and break.  Fingers crossed my nails will become stronger!

Sally Hansen GWP at Priceline
This Sally Hansen Starter Kit includes a PVC bag which has plastic dividers to place bottles of nail polish and prevent them from clashing and breaking if you are using it for travel. I find the bag soo convenient! Also included was a top and base coat, High Definition nail colour, nail file and cuticle and hand cream. Oh there was also a little booklet containing information about the brand and all the products they house.

What do you think of this offer from Sally Hansen and Priceline? Which Sally Hansen products do you love?

Review: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Pink Sugar

Revlon Colorburst in Pink Sugar
Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks as the name itself says that their lipstick formulas provide a 'burst of rich colour' to the lips. I recently stumbled across the shade 'Pink Sugar' which is a pretty baby pink shade with shimmers. I'm not a huge fan of lipstick or lipgloss containing shimmers, however, I decided to give Pink Sugar a go as the creamy baby pink shade was something I don't have in my mountain high lipstick stash. The baby pink shade of the lipstick didn't show up too well in the photo unfortunately :(

I adore the classy and sophisticated black casing of these lipsticks and I really think Revlon has done a pretty good job in the design of the packaging. Revlon has also released the lipgloss version of the Colorburst range and it reminds me so much of Chanel's Glossimers!
Pink Sugar applies onto my lips smoothly and my lips felt moisturised. The initial application resulted in a sheer finish and I was stunned as the Colorburst lip formulas are advertised to provide rich colour to the lips. The soft look and sheer finish was not too disappointing as there was a pretty and subtle shimmer effect on my lips and I quite like the look as a casual or 'going out to the grocer' look. I applied a few more swipes of Pink Sugar and it was great that the colour was buildable, however, not intense.

The lasting power was not great as it only lasted a couple of hours with only some shimmer remaining on the lips. That said, I would only use this lipstick when I'm in a hurry to head out for a short period. I would have loved this shade more if the lasting power was great as the shade is quite pretty.

What do you think of Pink Sugar?
Have you tried any other shades from the Revlon Colorburst Lipstick/Lipgloss range?

Review: Prestige Skin Nude Foundation

A few weeks ago, I received a lovely package from Prestige and it contained one of their newest additions to their foundation line. The package contained a tube of Prestige Skin Nude Foundation.

I was surprised to receive this foundation as I've never used Prestige foundations in the past. The only product I have used from Prestige is their popular Sun Baked Mineral Bronzer which I used years ago! Their Sun Baked Mineral Bronzer is so popular as it's a dupe of MAC Mineralise Skin Finishes.

Now back on topic... Prestige Skin Nude Foundation is formulated with Ginseng, Aloe and Viamin E to provide a stimulating, hydrating and soothing effect. The benefit of Vitamin E is that it helps to minimise signs of ageing. I have never come across a foundation formulated with this trio of ingredients, so I found it interesting to see how it feels and benefits my skin.

I was provided with the shade '02 Nude Natural' and it turned out to be a little too dark for my light skintone. Despite the slightly darker shade of foundation, I was thankful that this foundation didn't make me look orange, as most foundations I have tried looked a little orange as the color match was a failure! There are five shades in the range (shade# 01 to 05).

The consistency of the foundation is very lightweight and during application it felt quite difficult to blend into my skin using a foundation brush. Using a foundation brush required a lot of product to acheive an even distribution of the foundation. However, I did find that using a sponge gave a better result. Using a sponge made applying the foundation very easy and it leaves my skin looking nice and smooth. There were no excess foundation around the corners of my nose and it made my skin tone look even.

The coverage is medium, however, I found that it was more of a full coverage foundation to the point where I didn't need to use concealer at all.

I have an oily/combination skin type, so the initial dewy look changed from looking perfect to too oily from the 1st hour to the 4th hour of wearing it. I even tried to apply a light dusting of powder over the foundation, however the powder didn't spread evenly.

Overall, Skin Nude Foundation wasn't the best foundation for me, despite the shade not matching my skin tone. The dewy finish is most suitable for people who have a dry skin type as it contains moisturising properties. I was also suggest that this foundation is most suitable to wear during the winter months.

Prestige Skin Nude Foundation is available from 29th March 2012 at selected Priceline pharmacies and online at www.prestigecosmetics.com.au and retails for A$24.99 for a tube containing 25ml.

Which foundation is your holy grail? Do you interchange foundations accordingly to the weather change?

The New L'Occitane Lavender Collection

L'Occitane's coveted Lavender range will have a new face and by that I mean new products, ingredients and packaging which will launch in March 2012. Products in the L'Occitane Lavender range help to reduce anxiety, ease stress and help provide a good night's sleep. I am obssessed with the scent of lavender as I find it really does ease of stress and help me to relax.

I was sent three products from the new Lavender range to trial and these include the following: Foaming Bath (500ml $34.95), Body Massage Gel (200ml $39.95) and Scented Candle (150g $34.95). The packaging for the new Lavender range still features the purple and silver colour packaged combination like the old packaging, however the labelling has completely changed. The text on the labels are bold and the overall packaging gives a modern look.

L'Occitane Foaming Bath
L'Occitane - 'This rich formula generousl foams in the bath and offers all the relaxing benefits of Haute-Provenve Lavender. It leaves the skin supple, clean and fragrant. Simply pour a small amount under warm running water to stimulate both your mind and senses. Then let the scent transport ou to the rugged hills of Provence.'

I felt relaxed and pampered after using this Foaming Bath product as the fragrance was strong, though not overpowering, and made me feel heavenly! The aromatic bubble bath made the whole bathroom filled with the scent of lavender and it was really divine!

L'Occitane Body Massage Gel
L'Occitane - 'A rich, smooth gel cream envelops the body with a soft relaxing aromati scent. Its mild and gentle formula can be used everyday to help nourish and soften the skin. It also makes for an excellent massage medium.'

Upon first twisting open the lid, the Body Massage Gel was sealed with foil. I like the idea of keeping products fresh and sealed before usage to ensure the product is just as good as it was when formulated. The gel is an opaque white with a hint of soft lavender. I imagined this gel to provide a lightweight and cooling sensation once applied, however, I was wrong! The consistency of this Body Massage Gel is relatively thick and reason for this is it's main purpose is to be used as a massage gel! This is a first for me as I have never used a massage gel product before. The thick consistency means you should only use the product in small amounts and gentle massage it on the surface of the skin.

The gel felt smoothing and the aroma was very soothing! I wasn't too happy about the gel leaving my skin felling sticky after application as it didn't absorb into my skin and it didn't leave my skin felling matte. It wasn't until the next morning that my skin felt very moisturised and beautiful! Despite the sticky finish, I'm in love with this lavender scented massage gel as it leaves me feeling relaxed and leaves my skin feeling moisturised.

L'Occitane Scented Candle
L'Occitane - 'This gorgeous candle fills your home with a relaxing scent screating a warm and inviting ambience.'

When it comes to choosing the right scent for home difussers, incense, oil-burners, room sprays and candles, the lavender or jasmine scents are my personal preferences. I was thrilled when I saw L'Occitane had scented lavender candles as what better way could you spread the scent of lavender in the home? This candle is estimated to last 20 hours and I like the idea of packaging this candle in a round tin. That way there would be no wastage once the candle is almost used up.

Wong Kar Wai for Shu Uemura Holiday Collection Glow Powder

I was completly chuffed when Nadia from Beauty Indulgent Reviews notified me via e-amil that I had won a Shu Uemura Holiday Collection Glow Powder from the Wong Kar Wai Collection from her recent giveaway!! I am a huge fan of Shu Uemura, especially limited edition palettes and I am just stunned that I won! A big Thank You to Nadia for hosting an amazing giveaway!

Glow Powder in Pleasure Rose

During Christmas 2011, Shu Uemura collaborated with acclaimed Hong Kong film director Wong Kar Wai brought about the Shu Uemura Holiday 2011 Collection. The products featured in this collection showcase shimmery, glittery and glow based products to celebrate the Christmas and New Year holiday.

Pleasure Rose Lustrous Glow Powder is a soft warm rosey powder with shimmering gold pearls to enhance a lustrous glow. The words seen on the powder is a glittery gold shade which disappears after a few uses leaving behind the finely milled warm rose shaded powder. The warm rosey shade as seen in the palette is barely noticeable once applied, although the subtle shimmers do bring out a lustrous yet natural glow to the skin. This powder could also be used as an all-over powder to create a natural sensual glow to the complexion or as blush to add a hint of shimmer and glow to the cheeks.

Do you love using illuminating/highlighting powders? Which illuminating powders do you love?
