November Bellabox Gets me Prepared for the Holidays!

After the successful and popular launch of Bellabox in October, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the November Bellabox!  I love surprises and I love to try new makeup and skincare products from brands that I've seen and never heard of before.

Bellabox is a monthly subscription ($15 per month) where you receive 4-5 deluxe high-end, boutique and cult products from Australia and around the world, so you could try the best and the latest products on the market. To read more about BellaBox and their amazing blog, please visit their website at www.bellabox.com.au and you could also read through my post on Bellabox here.

The contents in my November Bellabox:

November Bellabox
Lancome Visionnaire, 5ml worth A$19.17 (Full size 30ml rrpA$115)
Lancome's newly released skin correcting serum launched a couple of months ago and I'm very happy to see a deluxe sample size of this serum everyone has been talking about! What makes Visionnaire such a cult skincare product is the presence of a molecule called LR2412, which is proposed to penetrate through the skins surface and trigger a number of micro transformations. Sounds interesting and I can't wait to try it out!

BB Creme Au Ginseng, 1.5ml worth A$1.95 (full size 45ml rrpA$59)
Yuza Sobert, 1.5ml worth A$1.95 (full size 45ml rrpA$59)

Elixir Au Ginseng, 1.5ml worth A$4.90 (full size 30ml rrpA$98)
These three sample satchets are from a Korean brand called Erborian. Seeing that I received single use sample satchets, I don't think I would get a decent experience with these samples, but I'll see how I go anyway. The pricing of these Erborian skincare products are exxy, so I'm eager to these if these samples are really worth their price tag!

Gatineau Melatogenine Force Collagene, ~2ml worth ~A$10 (full size 30ml rrpA$150)
I've never tried any prodcts from Gatineau before. Gatineau is a high end skincare brand and the sample I received is an anti-wrinkle performance booster with collagen targeting ingredients to help give younger looking skin. I haven't reached that stage of skin maturity, so I'll have to give this one away.

Orofluido, 5ml worth ~A$1 (full size Elixir 100ml and Mask 250ml rrpA$49.95/pack)
Orofluido is another new brand I've just come across and it's a hair care company based in Spain. The Orofluido sample I received is a beauty Elixir for hair. The formula contains a mixture of Argan Oil, Cyperus Oil and Linseed Oil. I've just gotten into a phase of using various hair oils, so I'm quite excited to try this one.

Twistband, worth A$2.00 (pack of 3 for rrpA$5.95)
Twistbands originate from California and have been designed to keep hair secure without snagging or leaving any creases at the end of the day. These Twistbands are quite dear at $5.95 for a pack of 3 so I'm quite happy to try this Twistband, otherwise I wouldn't stop by and think about picking these up and buying them.

Obessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Pageant, full size 8ml rrpA$16

OCC Lip Tar swatch in Pageant
Last but not least, the star product of the November Bellabox is an OCC Lip Tar! I've finally met the most pigmented, bold and long-lasting lip product to exist on Earth!! My first ever OCC Lip Tar I received is called Pageant- a blue pink shade. The one swipe swatch in the photo above shows how opaque and bold the formula of OOC Lip Tars really are. These Lip Tars are ever so long lasting as they are so difficult to remove! I had some difficulty wiping off the swatch on my arm! After using some soap and water, most of the product is now gone.

I'm very excited to see that Bellabox included a full sized OCC Lip Tar for me to try. I'm so glad the shade I received is wearable and something I would use. This Lip Tar has come in perfect timing as it would be a great product to take along with me when I head on a holiday going interstate in a few more weeks! I like the variety of samples included in this month's Bellabox and look forward to trying new products from brands I've never come across before.
November Bellabox total worth ~A$57 !

Review: Hello Kitty Gun of Roses Nail Polish

The Hello Kitty Collection launched recently and exclusively at selected Priceline Stores. I was so excited and thrilled that the Hello Kitty Collection had launched. You could read more about my recent haul HERE

Hello Kitty Gun of Roses

The Hello Kitty nail polish range comes in a variety of glitter, matte and sheer shades. There were, of course, a couple of pink shades and Gun of Roses is one of them. Gun of Roses is a more intense/bright pink shade than what you see in the photo above. I would describe this shade as a Barbie Pink. Very pink and girly!

One application of Gun of Roses resulted in a partially opaque finish with streaking, so a good 3 to 4 coats would provide a completely opqaue look as shown above. Due to applying more than the usual 2 coats of nail polish in general, I noticed very slight chipping on the third day of wearing this polish (with a base coat and without a top coat). Also, a full size bottle contains 8ml of product and costs $9.95.

Left hand side of the back label

Right hand side of the back label
The print of Hello Kitty at the front of the nail polish bottle looks very cute and I really like the fancy font. At the back of the bottle, the list of ingredients, barcode and other details are printed on a sticker. The top sticker is actually placed on an angle, so I wasn't impressed with the labelling of the stickers.

Overall, I would only continue to purchase nail polish from the Hello Kitty range if there is a shade I really like.

Have you tried any shades from the Hello Kitty nail polish collection?
Which shades do you like or would reccomend?

Hello Kitty Collection at Priceline + CUTE Haul!

Hello Kitty = Cuteness!

I was quite excited to hear that the newest makeup collection which launched a couple of weeks ago at selected Priceline stores in Australia was the Hello Kitty Makeup Collection! I was completely surprised to hear the news about this as it never occured to me that there would be an entire line of Hello Kitty makeup at Priceline!

I was a huge fan of Hello Kitty during my childhood years and I loved anything to do with Hello Kitty. As I’ve grown older I’ve been a little distanced from Hello Kitty and would just admire how cute Hello Kitty is!

Well, until now, I think I’ve gotten back into my Hello Kitty craze!

I went to Priceline on Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City (the only Priceline of the three in the city which stock the HK Collection) and there was a promotion going on. Purchase two items from the Hello Kitty Collection and receive a Hello Kitty plush toy :) How could I not resist to this?!

Decisions decisions! I wasn't sure which product to try as it is a new makeup line and I had no idea of the quality and lasting power etc of the colour makeup. I loved the metallic pink packaging of the compact powder foundations, however, they didn't have my shade in stock :( So, I purchased a nail polish in Gun of Roses (Bardie Doll) for A$9.95 (8ml) and matte lipstick in Bollywood (HK08-04) for A$12.95 (3.5g). I very much preferred the black packaging of the lipstick so that narrowed down my choices!

The Hello Kitty Collection at Priceline looks very sturdy and of course cute! The metallic pink packaging looks very girly but also chic. I like that some of the products have the black packaging and I think it gives a sleek and sophisticated look. I must the packaging is purrretty fantastic, though the size of some products seem just a tad small.

The Hello Kitty Lipsticks come in two types, Shine & Kiss Lipstick (metallic pink packaging) and Matte & Kiss Lipstick (black packaging) . These lipsticks are small in packaging, though the amount of product is 3.5g which is average (e.g., Chanel Rouge Coco Lipsticks are 3.5g, Benefit Full-finish Lipsticks are 3.0g, Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks are 3.7g).

Matte and Kiss Bolloywood lipstick is a very common fuschia shade. It's a common pink shade and I can confidently say that this shade would suit any skin tone. The formula feels very moisturising and despite the fact that it's not long lasting, my lips looked like they have a stained fuschia/pink hue. Bollywood sure is a very girly pink shade that I love!

Hello Kitty Gun of Roses, oh I love the name of this shade! You can see Gun of Roses popping up in the top far right of the photo above. The shade is a pretty pink which again is a common shade of pink. I'm going to write a separate post on this nail polish with photos etc, so keep an eye out on my review of Hello Kitty Gun of Roses Nail Polish!

Hello Kitty Collection is exclusive to selected Priceline stores in Australia. All products are made in Paris, France, and each product has the official 'Sanrio' logo. The Hello Kitty Collection ranges between A$9.95 and A$14.95.

What do you think of the brand new Hello Kitty Collection at Priceline?
Have you purchased anything from the range?

Review: Dior Pink Lace-Effect Highlighting Powder

Dior Lace Highlighting Powder is a limited edition product from the Dior Boudoir Look Collection for Spring (mid-January) 2010. Yes, it's been about a year since this highlighting powder was released and you could still see the lace pattern of my highlighting powder compact! As mentioned by Dior, this powder is intended to provide an illuminating lace-effect for the face.

Dior Lace Highlighting Powder the most exquisite and luxe highlighting powder I have in my collection. The lace design of this highlighter is just stunning that I’m always hesitant to even touch the surface of this highlighter as it’s just so beautiful.

This all-over highlighting powder was available in two shades- Pink Lace #001 and Peach Lace #002. I currently own the Pink Lace Highlighting powder.
This highlighting powder is encased in a sleek silver metal magnetic compact with a huge in-built mirror.  The name ‘Dior’ and a white lace detail, as seen from the powder, are both etched on the case.
The overall design of the packaging and highlighting powder invoke a classy and elegant atmosphere! The compact is rather heavy, so this one stays at home and not in my handbag!

I use this highlighter for my cheeks, neck and décolleté to add a touch of radiance, luminosity and a natural glow to the skin.  The finish is a very subtle pearlescent sheen which gives a really natural look to the cheeks.  With a light hand, you could achieve a beautiful subtle glow.

I would highly recommend using a skunk brush or fan brush to apply this highlighter. There is no shimmer in this highlighter at all! Zilch shimmer!! That’s what I love about this highlighter as the last thing I want is to look like a disco ball!

Do you have your hands on any product from the Dior Boudoir Look Collection way back in 2010?
Which highlighters would you reccomend?
Do you prefer cream- or powder- based highlighters?

Review: L'Occitane Délice des Fruits Sweet Delights

L'Occitane Délice des Fruits collection is part of the limited edition Delicious Christmas range which launched recently. The theme of Délice des Fruits evokes the divine and aromatic scents of lemon and clementine. To read more on the Délice des Fruits collection you can see my post about the entire Delicious Christmas collection HERE.

Recently, I discovered the Délice des Fruits Christmas Perfume Diffuser and Sweet Candle. These two products fill the room with a beautiful aroma and look great sitting in the living room or bedroom.

L'Occitane Délice des Fruits Christmas Perfume Diffuser

L'Occitane Lavender Perfume Refill

The Christmas Perfume Diffuser is a set which includes a glass jar, natural perfume diffuser reeds and a 100ml bottle of Lavender perfume refill. I wasn't too sure what the intensity of the diffuser would produce, therefore I decided to use a handful of reeds and poured half of the Lavender perfume into the glass diffuser. After a few hours of leaving the perfume diffuser on the coffee table, the living room was filled with a very subtle, lovely and very soothing aroma! I was pleasantly surprised as to how quickly this beautiful scent filled the room.

L'Occitane Délice des Fruits Sweet Candle
The aromatic Sweet Candle is housed in a diamond shaped tin and envelopes the home with a delightful citrus scent from the top notes of lemon and clementine! The scent smells absolutely beautiful! The scent is not overpowering, so it's a great scented candle to add a citrus fragrance to your home. The wick is 100% cotton and non-toxic.

The Christmas Perfume Diffuser and Sweet Candle make delightful Christmas gifts and/or as  decorative and fragrant items for the home this Christmas Holidays.

Which would you recomend?

Review: Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Collection

Recently, I discovered a hair care product range from Organix. Organix formulates their products using organic active ingredients and their hair products are safe for colour treated hair (won't bleach colour dyed hair) and suitable for all hair types.

There are a number of collections available suitable to the needs of your hair.
If your hair is lacking in nutrients, natural vitamin E and antioxidants and need of restructuring the hairs' cell structure then the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Collection is for you.

If your hair is lacking in moisture and strength, then the Organix Hydrating Teatree Mint Collection and/or Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Collection are suitable for you.

If your hair is lifeless, dry and brittle, then the Organix Pomegranate Green Tea Collection is for you.

If your looking towards a more smooth and silky look to your hair Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Collection and/or Organix Soft & Silk Collection are great for you.

*****

My hair is colour treated and also damaged from using a hair straightener almost daily. The ends of my hair are relatively dry if I don't maintain my hair during the day (i.e., use hair oil to help nourish and balance the moisture of my hair). Hence, Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil is the most suitable collection for my hair.

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner (rrpA$19.99 ea, 385ml ea)
The packaging component of 'products' in general are important to me is it usually relates to the ease of use and stability of the product. The packaging of Organix shampoo and conditioner, in particular, are both very bulky and curved at the sides- thus making dispensing relatively difficult. Despite this, it's great to know that Organix uses eco-friendly and recycled materials to manufacture their bottles.

The scent is absolutely beautiful and luxurious! The scent is not overpowering, however, it does leave my hair smelling fresh through the day.

The consistency of both the shampoo and conditioner are relatively thick, therefore only a small blob is required to fully cleanse my hair. Due to the difficulty in dispensing the product it's not so easy to dispense excess product anyway. The shampoo lathers up quickly and does a great job to cleanse my hair. The conditioner is lovely as it made my hair smooth and silky. Whilst rinsing my hair through water, my hair felt just luscious!

After a few weeks of using a combination of Organix shampoo and conditioner daily, I've noticed that after cleansing my hair and towel drying, my hair feels soft and looks slightly healthy. When I say healthy I mean smooth, nourished and no longer frizzy at the ends. I quite happy with the results as I've had to put more effort in the past by using more and more hair products to maintain the health of my hair.

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Intense Moisturising Treatment (rrpA$19.99, 237ml)

I have used a myriad of hair treatments in the past, ranging from the expensive and luxurious to the most affordably priced. I have no idea why, but all hair treatments I have used are housed in a tub! I find this really inconvenient as I find myself scooping the product out with my fingers urgh! Well, I guess it’s due to the very thick consistency, but still, there needs to be another method to hygienically dispense hair treatments rather than exposing the product to air after each use. Ok, rant over for the packaging factor...

To boost the life of my hair and ensure my hair stays smooth and healthy I use a hair mask. I apply this hair mask to damp hair straight after using shampoo and conditioner. I only use this treatment once a week as I have found a once a week usage works best for me. I leave this treatment in my hair for a few minutes before rinsing it out. After rinsing and blow drying my hair, my hair felt instantly refreshed, smoother and softer. I really love the soft feeling and think this is a great product when used consistently. After a few weeks of using the treatment, it did not dry my hair out; instead it helped to strengthen and repair my hair and prevent splits ends from occurring.

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil (rrpA$24.99, 100ml)
There has been a huge interest in the use of hair oil for beautiful looking hair and if you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon... I suggest you do quick smart!
Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil is thicker than most oils on the market. My hair is thick and relatively coarse, so the thick consistency does require a little patience to evenly spread the oil to the ends of my hair.  Despite the thick consistency, I found that adding a little excess product to my hair does not leave my hair looking oily or greasy.
There is no ‘correct’ way of applying this hair oil. I’ve been using this penetrating oil two ways with success: 1. apply to damp hair after using shampoo and conditioner or 2. Apply to completely dry hair.
The scent is really divine and lovely for my hair after application. This penetrating oil does control the frizz and the often flyaways here and there. The ingredients list of this Penetrating Oil is very similar to the popular Moroccan Oil Treatment. Organix Penetrating Oil is an affordable and useful product which has left a huge tick on my list. My hair has become beautiful! I highly recommend this product if you are looking into a hair oil which nourishes and maintains the soft and smooth texture and moisture of your hair.

******

On a separate note, my friend reccomended the Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Collection as it smells divine and doesn't dry out the hair! I absolutely love Shea Butter and I'm looking forward to using this Organix Shea Butter hair care range once I've finished with the Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Collection.

******

Organix is available in Australia at Coles, Chemist Warehouse and My Chemist.

Review: Elucent Eye Cream

Elucent is a skincare brand housed under popular family-friendly brand Ego Pharmaceuticals. I've never heard of Elucent before and I'm glad I've come across this brand thanks to BeautyDirectory.

Elucent eye cream is packaged in a very simply elongated tube with a pointed applicator for ease of dispensing. I really love the packaging of this eye cream as the pointed applicator can dispense a very small amount, which is enough to spread evenly around each eye.

The eye cream is an opaque white colour which a very lightweight and having a relatively thin consistency. When using eye creams, it's important to gently pat a thin layer of the product around the eye.

The eye cream is fragrance-free which makes it a brilliant product for sensitive eyes or anyone who dislikes fragranced skincare products.

Immediately after application I felt a very relaxing and lovely cooling sensation around my eyes and my skin felt very hydrated. This eye cream contains a blend of 4% AHAs, vitamins B3, C and E to help moisturise the skin, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

I do not have any fine lines or wrinkles so I cannot comment of the effect on these factors. Though I can say my visible (but not very dark) dark circles are slowly diminishing without a change in my daily sleeping/working hours and lifestyle. I've been using this eye cream for about a month and have only just noticed this change as my eye area appears brighter and less tired than usual.

I'm quite happy with this eye cream as I've noticed changes to my eye area and I usually don't see any changes from using other eye creams in the past.  Patience is the key and thanks to Elucent eye cream I'm looking forward to a brighter look towards the Christmas Holidays!

 Elucent Eye Cream: rrpA$49.95, 15g

Elucent is available exclusively at Priceline stores nationally and selected dermatology and plastic sugeon's clinics offices.

To learn more about the entire Elucent skincare range see the Elucent website here.

Review: Smashbox Girls on Film Cream Eye Liner in Sepia

Girls on Film Colour Collection launched recently as part of Smashbox cosmetics new season colour collection. To read more about the new Girls on Film Colour Collection click here.

I was given the opportunity to trial the Girls on Film Cream Eye Liner Travel Brush Set in Sepia and I have to say, the formulation of the cream liner has really impressed me.
Smashbox Girls on Film Cream Eye Liner Travel Brush Set
I've used cream liners in the past and after trying Smashbox's cream liner, I am amazed about the lasting power of this liner. Sepia is a beautiful brown shade with miniscule gold pearl shimmers. These gold pearl shimmers look VERY subtle and only noticeable upon close inspection. This liner is VERY pigmented and glides on incredibly smooth, so these  are great qualities in this cream liner.. Being a cream liner, it did take a few minutes to completely dry. You could create different levels of intensity with this cream liner, you could create gentle smudge the liner and achieve a soft focus look or apply a heavy hand to define and make your eyes look bold. I found that the cream liner is easy to apply and the intensity of the shade is buildable.

The travel size Smashbox eyeliner brush included in this set is approximately 14.5 cm long. The full size Smashbox Cream Eyeliner brush No. 9 has white bristles. The travel sized cream eyeliner brush works very well and is not flimsy or scratchy at all. It's important that you should apply a 'stamping' motion rather than sweep the brush, that way you would avoid scratching the delicate eye area and enable a smooth application. I really love the fact that the bristles are packed tight and allows a precise application. You could use this brush to apply the cream eye liner in many ways. Here are a few swatches of Girls on Film Cream Eye Liner in Sepia using the eyeliner brush.

Smashbox Girls on Film Cream Eye Liner in Sepia

Ingredients List
Smashbox Cream Liner in Sepia has already replaced my regular MAC Blacktrack gel liner for a day time look as the Sepia shade provides a softer tone, yet still has the characteristics of defining the eyes.

I would definitely consider trying this limited edition Smashbox Cream Eye Liner with Travel sized brush from the Girls on Film Colour Collection as it offers precision and definition to the eyes with the use of the great quality Smashbox cream eye liner brush.

Girls on Film Cream Eye Liner Travel Brush Set is available in Blacklight (black with blue pearl) and Sepia (midnight brown with gold pearl) at a price of A$39.95 ea.

Smashbox Girls on Film Colour Collection is available exclusively at KIT cosmetics and Mecca Maxima stores in Australia.
