NEW Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum

Dermalogica is one of my all-time favourite beauty brands as they never ever become complacent with their never ending release of new and powerful skin care products. My skin has always indulged and reaped the benefits of Dermalogica skin care products and what's new to have arrived is a powerful and potent serum! I am excited to say that Dermalogica has recently launched their brand new Multivitamin Power Serum (A$85/22ml) which is to be used for daytime use (as opposed to the Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum for night time use).

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum aims to intercept early signs of ageing from the benefits of antioxidant ingredients (Vitamins A, C, E and F)  and a skin-strengthening peptide, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR), to enhance skin recovery, reduce the appearance of pigmentation and dark spots,  boost skin elasticity and provide smooth and soft looking skin.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum is part of the AGE Smart series and despite being in my twenties, prevention of fine lines and any other signs of ageing is important and never too early to think about! Not only is the Multivitamin Power Serum great for prematurely-aging skin, but it is also suitable for mature skin.

Multivitamin Power Serum has  a rich texture that is featherlight and has a lovely velvety silicone feel which ensures smooth and easy application for even distribution across the face. Just a teeny tiny pearl size amount is adequate and the serum penetrates the skin almost instantly, leaving a nice matte finish, ready for applying my moisturiser. After using this serum on a daily basis for about 4 weeks, my complexion is noticeably brighter, more plump and smoother. Multivitamin Power Serum is an excellent age preventative solution for my skin and I'm so glad Dermalogica has formulated such an effective serum for my pre-mature skin. Since I'm only using tiny amounts at each time, I'm sure this concoction of antioxidants and goodness will last at least a good 3 months!

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum is available online at Adore Beauty and The Facial Company and in-store at David Jones and Myer department stores.

NEW Neutrogena Naturals Skin Care Range

The Neutrogena Naturals skin care range recently launched in Australia and includes five products ranging from facial cleansers, face/body bar and lip balm!  Cleansing the skin is one of the utmost important steps for clear and clean looking skin, so it's great to see that Neutrogena has come up with this new range so that we can achieve beautiful skin.

Approximately 94% of the products from the Neutrogena Naturals range are made from natural plant derived ingredients to provide effective results. Neutrogena Naturals products are pretty much free from harsh chemical sulfates, parabens, petrolatum, dyes and phthalates and are NOT tested on animals. The carton and bottle packaging is also made from an environmentally green approach as 50% of the packaging has been produced from recycled goods.

The gorgeous Kristen Bell is the face of Neutrogena Naturals and what's not to love about her?! She is vegan, has an amazing personality and she has beautiful skin!

A few weeks ago I received all five products from the Neutrogena Naturals skin care range to trial: Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover (A$14.99/177ml), Purifying Facial Cleanser (A$14.99/177ml), Purifying Pore Scrub (A$14.99/118g), Lip Balm (A$14.99/ g) and Face and Body Bar (A$4.99/99g).

The recycled packaging of Neutrogena Naturals products is very simplistic and the pump dispenser of the two cleansers were very easy to use to dispense the desired amount of product. The ingredients list of each product is listed clearly on each packaging and the source in which the ingredient was derived from is also listed beside. I think this is a fantastic idea, as you would be able to know the origin of each key ingredient.

Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover is an opaque white gel cleanser which is a 2-in-1 formula that not only removes makeup, but also cleanses and nourishes the skin. Unlike most makeup removing facial products where you apply the product using a cotton pad, Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover should be applied directly onto the skin. The formula feels very gentle on my skin and removes residual makeup well. For the removal of heavy and waterproof eye makeup, I would recommend using a separate eye makeup remover product prior to using the Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover. The scent is quite lovely, reminiscent of sweet apples, so leaves my skin nicely and subtly scented.

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser is a gentle translucent gel cleanser which contains salicylic acid to cleanse and detoxify the skin. I only need to use a couple of pearl sized amounts to cleanse my skin. The gel cleanser lathers up nicely and doesn't irritate, dry nor tighten my skin. Instead, my skin feels hydrated, smooth and soft to touch. My skin feels cleansed and revitalised, however, I would suggest to double cleanse by using the Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover first to ensure complete removal of residues on the skin. Purifying Facial Cleanser is great for my sensitive and combination/oily skin and the formulation of naturally derived ingredients makes this cleanser an excellent choice for cleansing the skin.

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub is my favourite of the 5 products in the range as it consists of natural based Jojoba beads which are gentle enough to buff away dead skin cells and detoxify the pores. There were no instructions on usage, so in my opinion since the purifying Pore Scrub is so gentle to my skin, I've been using this scrub on a daily basis to ensure that my pores are thoroughly cleansed. The subtle sweet apple scent of this scrub makes me feel refreshed and I love how soft and smooth my skin feels afterwards.

Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm contains Beeswax, Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E to moisturise and condition the lips. The scent of this Lip Balm is subtle with hints of mint and apple. This Lip Balm hydrates and protects my lips very well and is even gentle on dry and chapped lips, however, it does not contain any sun protection factor which is one key criterion I look for in lip balms. Hence, I only use this Lip Balm in the evening, just before I go to bed to restore my lips.

Neutrogena Naturals Face and Body Bar is made from 99% naturally derived ingredients and is very gentle to my skin. There was no distinct scent to this Face and Body bar, so an excellent product if you prefer fragrance-free soaps. I prefer to use this bar for my body as I always opt for gel cleansers to cleanse my combination/oily face. This Face and Body Bar lasted a good 4 weeks and was effective in keeping my skin feeling fresh and clean thanks to the Olive and Avocado oils. My skin did not become irritated nor dry out after showering.

The Neutrogena Naturals skin care range is a wonderful collection of ~94% natural-based facial/body products which is suitable for those who have sensitive skin. I really enjoyed using the products in conjunction with one another and loved how effective each product was to cleanse my skin/body and hydrate my lips.

What do you think of the new Neutrogena Naturals skin care range?

NEW Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF25 PA+++

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF25 PA+++ (A$50/45ml) launches on the coming 20th of May 2013 to deliver a hint of colour for even skin tone and minimise imperfections and blemishes for a flawless complexion while protecting the skin from UVA/UVB rays with high SPF25 with PA+++. The high SPF rating is an excellent quality of this BB Cream as protecting your skin is one of the most important factors to decelerate the skin aging process. There are 3 shades available: No.1 Light, No.2 Medium and No.3 Warm.

Most of you beauties have either jumped on the BB Cream bandwagon or have given it a miss. For me, I've tried a few high end and 'drugstore' BB creams out there and honestly,  not all BB Creams are suitable for my oily/combination skin type. I prefer multi-tasking BB Creams which not only nourish my skin and leave the shine along my T-zone at bay, but also provides decent coverage (light-medium) to even skin tone and save me valuable time in the morning by skipping foundation application.

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream ticks all of my boxes and is probably one of the best BB Creams I have used alongside the recently launched Models Prefer BB Cream (reviewed here) and Bobbi Brown BB Cream (reviewed here). All three formulas are very similar in terms of performance and finish.

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream formula is oil-free, noncomedogenic, contains 100% mineral sunscreen and is dermatologist tested. The star ingredients of Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream are Organic Kiwi Extract (anti-fatigue and antioxidant properties, rich in Vitamin C and stimulates skin cells) and  Katafray extract (boost skins natural hydration levels), both of which are plant-based ingredients.

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream has a really nice consistency, similar to that of a gel-cream which allows smooth application when using either your fingers or a foundation brush. The formula feels light on the skin, comfortable to wear and applies on sheer, however, can be buildable to provide light coverage. About 3 pearl sized amounts of the formula will suffice for a full face and achieve even skin tone and banish the appearance of redness around my cheek and nose area. If you have blemishes and/or dark under eye circles, applying a creamy concealer would help to brighten the complexion. The finish of the formula is semi-dewy, so with a touch of powder my complexion appears matte. Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream lasts a good 8 hours without fading or appearing patchy.

The shade No.1 Light appears slightly orange after swatching on my arm, however, after careful blending and allowing the formula to set on my skin, the colour appears a lot more natural and almost matches my MAC NC20 skin tone. I would say that the shade No.1 Light would be slightly too dark if your skin tone is below MAC NC20. It's unfortunate that the shade isn't a perfect match, however, a way to get around this problem is to apply powder which tones down the warmth of the shade.

All in all, I'm very much in love with Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream as I love the 'foundation-like' formula and  semi-dewy finish which gives my skin a natural looking complexion. I'm also pleased with the lightweight feel of the formula as my skin doesn't feel congested or heavy with makeup. Although the shade No.1 Light is a tad darker than my natural skin tone, a light dusting of powder to lighten the overall tone of the formula does the trick. Also, my face looks and appears fresh thanks to the inclusion of the plant-based ingredients.

I would definitely recommend this BB Cream if you prefer a BB Cream formula which prolongs the development of shine on your skin and can even skin tone with sheer-light coverage, however, due to the limited range of shades, I would suggest testing out the shades once available in-store and trial a sample first.

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF25 PA+++ will be available from May 20th 2013 online at Adore Beauty and The Facial Company and in-store at David Jones and Myer department stores.

Which BB Cream is your skin loving at the moment?

NEW Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick

Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick is a new line of hydrating and shiny lipsticks which consist of protective ingredients for everyday wear and care for the lips. Moisture Lust Lipstick is available in 8 decadent shades: Pannacotta (light beige), Salted Caramel (brown/beige), Raspberry Sorbet (berry brown), Fairy Floss (nude pink), Berry Shortcake (deep berry), Cupcake (blue pink), Cherry Pie (bright cherry red) and Peach Ice Tea (coral red). I was given the opportunity to trial the shades Fairy Floss and Cherry Pie by the lovely people at Models Prefer and I've been very impressed with these formulas!

Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick in Fairy Floss (L) and Cherry Pie (R).

Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick is a buttery, non-sticky and super hydrating formula which conditions and protects the lips due to Vitamin E (an antioxidant) and UVA/UVB filters ingredients. The formula is free from Paraben, Fragrance/Perfume and Lanolin.

I'm loving the subtle vanilla scent of these Moisture Lust Lipsticks as most other 'drugstore' lipsticks I have tried have quite an unpleasant scent. The formula does not bleed or settle into lines, feels comfortable on the lips and is similar to that of a hydrating lip balm than a lipstick. I tend to reach out for 'lip balm-like' lipsticks as they can be applied without using a mirror and always work a treat for an everyday look.

Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick applies on sheer, has buildable pigmentation and adds a lustrous shiny finish. The lipstick formula lasts a good couple of hours, so requires re-application during the day to maintain colour. I actually don’t mind re-applying as the formula is hydrating and keeps my lips in top shine and condition throughout the day.

The textures of Fairy Floss and Cherry Pie are slightly different in which Fairy Floss contains gold reflective shimmers to add to the shine and spark. The shimmers appear slightly gritty in the tube, however, thankfully does not irritate my lips once applied. The nude pink shade of Fairy Floss looks very pretty and perfect for everyday wear. If you have less pigmented lips, Fairy Floss will enhance your natural lip colour and brighten the complexion. On the other hand, Cherry Pie applies on smooth, as the formula is shimmer-free, and gives a gorgeous bright red hue to the lips. The shade Cherry Pie does not appear OTT and is very wearable. I believe Cherry Pie suits all skin tones and Fairy Floss suits light to medium skin tones.

The following are swatches of the 5 Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick shades that were available at my local Priceline store:

Swatches of Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick, L-R: Pannacotta, Peach Ice Tea, Cupcake, Fairy Floss and Cherry Pie.
Swatches of Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipstick, L-R: Pannacotta, Peach Ice Tea, Cupcake, Fairy Floss and Cherry Pie.

Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipsticks are only A$11.99/3.2g a pop, so definitely an affordable lipstick which not only hydrates and conditions but also adds a pretty hint of colour for healthy looking lips.

Models Prefer is available exclusively at Priceline stores nationally.

PLUS, Priceline is currently offering 40% off ALL cosmetics and nail polish until Wednesday 24th April in-store and online! If you need to stock up on beauty products or update your beauty stash now is the time to do so!

Celebrate Earth Day with LUSH!

This year, Earth Day will be celebrated globally on Monday April 22nd - the 43rd celebration where events are held to broaden our focus on the world environment and think about ways in which we could reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact on our planet.

LUSH is one of my favourite beauty brands as I truly love their concept of producing vegan and cruelty-free products. LUSH formulate their body and cosmetics products using fresh and organic fruits/vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetic ingredients. What's not to love?!

I have here today, two LUSH products that I have been loving as of late and by the end of this post, I'm sure you will love these as much as I do!

LUSH FUN
FUN (A$9.50/250g) is the latest product from LUSH which aims to make bath time = fun time. FUN is a multi-purpose mouldable soap that could be used for your body, hair and even clothes! FUN is available in 5 different colours which makes them a fun for children (and adults) to mold soap into shapes and characters. These FUN vegan soaps are made from a gentle softening base of corn flour, talc and glycerine.
  • Yellow FUN - Creamy vanilla tones and gardenia extract with a bundle of marzipan aroma
  • Green FUN - A burst of citrus scents and tangy lime and lemon essential oils to refresh your senses
  • Blue FUN - The fusion of lavender and chamomile blue essential oils are great for sensitive and irritated skin and will make you feel relax and ensure you have a good nights rest
  • Red FUN - A fruity concoction of orange and mandarin oils to revitalise the mind
  • Pink FUN - A deliciously sweet treat with ice-cream with scented tonka absolute and benzoin resinoid will helps to stimulate circulation

The FUN doesn't stop there, a portion of global sales (~2.5%) of FUN goes to directly to the newly created FunD which supports children living in difficult surroundings. The funds are distributed as grants to projects providing recreational activities for children in need.

These FUN products would absolutely put a smile on everyone's dial and the divine scents of each colour just means that you gotta have them all! The multi-purpose FUN products are not only great for the bathroom but also for travel, as you don't need to pack additional products for the body, hair and clothes, etc.

LUSH FUN soaps (60g of each is shown above) in five different colours.

The LUSH Knot-Wrap (A$5.50 each) is inspired by the Japanese art of Furoshiki ('cloth for the bath') and originated in Japan during the 1600's where people would use it to carry their clothes, toiletries and goods. These eco-friendly LUSH Knot-Wraps are versatile and fantastic to reduce the impact on our environment by re-using Knot-Wrap for the following:
  • Gift wrap presents - you could wrap almost anything regardless of shape and size
  • Scarf - the vintage design fabric can be worn as a head scarf, neck scarf or even on your handbag
  • Storage - store personal items in a Knot-Wrap to protect them from dust or damage
  • Decor - the numerous patterns these Knot-Wraps are made from can be used to brighten your room

LUSH Knot-Wraps are seriously one of the most environmentally friendly and fashionable accessory you could have! The silky smooth texture of the fabric is safe to wear and the beautiful vintage patterns are fun to play with. Using Knot-Wrap as gift wrapping puts gift giving on a whole new level!

LUSH Knot-Wrap.

Cetaphil Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash and Body Moisturiser

Cetaphil is a pharmaceutical company which has been available in Australia for over 30 years and their products which are all dermatologist recommended and are suitable for skin with specific concerns. If your main skin concerns are eczema-prone, dry, itchy, sensitive and irritated skin, then the Cetaphil Restoraderm range would be for you. There are two products in the Restoraderm range and they are the Skin Restoring Body Wash (A$19.99/295ml) and Moisturiser (A$25.99/295ml). Both of these products are incredibly gentle to the skin that they are also suitable for babies and young children.

Cetaphil Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash is soap-free, hypoallergenic and fragrance-free that it's no wonder why this creamy, gentle and non-drying formula feels so luxurious against my skin!  This body wash feels somewhat like a moisturiser, however, it gently cleanses and hydrates my skin without stripping the skin's natural essential oils. After showering, my skin feels moisturised thanks to the ingredient Shea Butter formulated within this body wash, so I don't actually have the urgency to slather on moisturiser afterwards. However, to ensure my skin stays moisturised and protected in the long run, applying body moisturiser is a must for me.

Cetaphil Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Moisturiser is a long lasting moisturiser that is hypoallergenic, preservative and fragrance-free. The formula contains Ceramide technology which helps to nourish and retain skin moisture for intensive hydration. This moisturiser is lightweight, creamy and instantly hydrates my sensitive and dry skin. It does take a few seconds of massaging until it leaves a lovely matte finish and my skin absolutely loves this gentle formula.

Cetaphil Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash and Moisturiserare available at Priceline Pharmacy, Terry White Pharmacy, My Chemist, Chemist Warehouse and other leading pharmacies nationally. To view the entire Cetaphil range, please see their website here.

Does your skin suffer from dryness/eczema?
Have you tried any products from the Cetaphil range before?

Sisley Eye and Lip Contour Balm with Botanical Extracts

I have finally found an eye cream that truly performs while bringing out the best to my eye area! These last four weeks I have been using Sisley Eye and Lip Contour Balm (deluxe travel size received as part of a GWP) which addresses the appearance of fine lines, dehydrated skin and puffiness surrounding the eye and lip area thanks to the wonderful botanical extracts (Witch Hazel and Phytostimuli of Tomato) formulated within the gel balmI'm actually quite surprised that this small travel size tube has lasted till this day and on the verge of finishing up.

I have been using this transparent, lightweight gel to my eye area, rather than to my lips (since I am satisfied with using alternative products to my lips, and to be honest, I have never ever been so impressed with the outcomes.  I only need to use a tiny pearl-size amount around each eye and gentle massage the gel onto the skin. The gel feels slightly sticky once applied, however, it actually absorbed beautifully leaving a nice matte finish. My eye area instantly appears smooth, supple, moisturising and refreshing! Over time, my eye area no longer appears dry or dull and my under eye area appears less puffy. In terms of fine lines, I didn't notice any reduction in appearance, however, I found that this gel diminishes puffy eyes while protects and prolong the aging of my skin around the eyes.

Sisley Eye and Lip Contour Balm really is worth it's weight in gold - though I only wish that this balm is wonderful treat is a little more affordable

Have you tried any Sisley skin care products? Which eye cream/gels are your holy grail?

NEW Lancôme Teint Visionnaire

The luxurious turquoise blue bottle containing Lancôme's Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector has rocked the world (since it launched about a year ago) thanks to the ingredient LR2414 which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles and tightens visible pores. Following the success of Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector, Lancôme has launched the exciting new Teint Visionnaire Skin Perfecting Makeup Duo (A$65/30ml) which is enriched with the ingredient LR2414 to achieve perfect coverage and a radiant complexion!

Lancôme Teint Visionnaire is a two step product which contains a high coverage corrector to address issues associated with dark spots and blemishes and the liquid foundation aims to even skin tone while reducing the appearance of pores and wrinkles to give a smooth natural finish. The concept of combining a high coverage corrector and liquid foundation into one compact bottle is genius! The cap has an in-built mirror which is such a great little addition, so you could touch up during the day! The glass bottle seems quite bulky compared to most other foundation bottles, however, it is not heavy at all considering it is made of glass. The pump is relatively small, so this allows for easy control when dispensing the foundation.

My skin tone was matched to shade 01 Beige Albatre which is the lightest 'warm' shade in the range. In the past I have used Lancôme Teint Idole in shade 01 which was a perfect match for me, however, I found that range of shades for Teint Visionnaire is just a notch darker in comparison. For reference, my skin tone is equivalent to MAC NC20. Even though the shade 01 Beige Albatre was slightly darker that expected, the foundation actually 'adjusted' to my natural skin tone after carefully blending in small amounts onto my skin. I felt relieved that the shade blended really well and that I didn't end up turning into an oompa loompa!

The foundation is thin and runny in consistency, however, it feels featherlight when applied to the skin. I had a feeling that this foundation would result in sheer coverage, however, I was wrong! The coverage was surprisingly medium to full and gave my skin a smooth and natural finish without looking cakey at all! It was very easy to blend the foundation onto my skin, however, I found that I had to pump out the product three times for my full face. The foundation formula also contains SPF20, which is great in terms of protecting the skin from the harmful sun rays. The longevity of Teint Visionnaire is fantastic as there was no fading after about 8 hours of wear.

Lancôme advises that the high coverage corrector should be applied before foundation, however, my habits keep me from applying the corrector after foundation to that it stays put. The corrector is quite creamy and once blended onto blemishes and dark under eye circles it doesn't appear caked up or too OTT (over the top). There was once a time when I used a concealer brush to apply concealer, however, as of late I've been using my ring finger to apply concealer as the warmth helps to blend a nice thin layer to effectively conceal spots and imperfections.

Swatch of Lancôme Teint Visionnaire. Top-Bottom: blended and not blended.
In summary, Lancôme Teint Visionnaire is an excellent makeup duo which allows for giving the complexion a smooth, even and natural flawless look while the concealer helps to conceal imperfections. My complexion appears smooth, flawless, clear from any visible imperfections, pores are no longer visible and also the formula is conveniently long lasting. What more could I ask for?!
