The Jojoba Company Gentle Cleansing Balm and Redness Reducing Balm

Aside from the temporary flush of facial redness caused by blushing or being placed in an embarrassing moment, there also exists a more serious skin condition of facial redness (a.k.a. Rosacea), which is a skin condition some people endure when they reach towards the age of 30. There are quite a plethora of reasons why people develop facial redness and these include skin irritation, consuming hot foods, drinking alcohol, exposure to environmental stressors and even emotional stress. Facial redness triggered by one or more of these factors are quite difficult to banish completely, so it is important to identify methods to help calm, cool and relax the skin to reduce the appearance of facial redness.

The Jojoba Company is an Australia skin care brand that has been featured on The Beauty of Red Roses blog numerous times as I absolutely love the natural and organic ingredients they use to formulate their products. The Jojoba Company caters for all skin concerns and they also produce products that aim to reduce the appearance of facial redness. I have with me here The Jojoba Company Gentle Cleansing Balm and Redness Reducing Balm to review for you all today!

One of my major skin concerns is the visible flush of redness around the corners of my nose and inner cheek area. I've incorporated both The Jojoba Company Gentle Cleansing Balm and Redness Reducing Balm to my daily skin care routine and I've been following this routine for about 2.5 weeks. Thus far, my skin is loving the goodness of ingredients within these two products!

The Gentle Cleansing Balm (A$29.95/100ml) is a jojoba-based cleansing balm that is suitable for all skin types and is enriched with Pure Australian Jojoba, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, Vitamin A, C, D and E and Rose Oil to nourish, calm, hydrate and promote healthy skin. The texture of the formula is like a hybrid cream/balm and it feels nice and cool once applied to my skin. The subtle botanical scent is quite lovely and makes me feel uber revived! The cleanser is housed in a pump bottle and I found that one full pump dispenses a very small amount of product. The pearl-sized amount of cleanser shown in the image below was achieved with two full pumps, which is adequate to cleanse the entire face. Using gentle circular motions, I was able to thoroughly cleanse while hydrate my skin. The formula didn't strip the natural oils of my skin and my skin didn't feel tight nor irritated. My skin was left in a good state of freshness and cleanliness. I would definitely recommend using this cleanser in the morning to help boost hydration and nourishment the skin needs during the day.

The Redness Reducing Balm (A$29.95/50ml tube, A$39.95/85ml glass bottle) is enriched with the goodness of antioxidants which helps to cool, calm and soothe dry skin and visible reduce redness. This balm is ideal for those who have oily or combination skin types. After cleansing and toning my skin, I use a small pea-sized amount of the Redness Reducing Balm is a night time moisturiser to help calm and soothe my skin. The formula is housed in a silicon-feel tube with a pump on one end, so this makes dispensing super easy. The formula has an incredibly soothing botanical and herb-like scent and it also felt quite cool once I gently press a teeny tiny amount onto my face and decolletage. The consistency is quite thin, so I found it very easy to evenly apply the product across my skin. I didn't notice any immediate reduction in redness on my face, however, my skin did feel very relaxed and calm, thanks to the pleasant botanical scent and lush antioxidant ingredients which helped to revive my skin. Overall, I love the hydrating and soothing benefits that the Redness Reducing Balm provides for my skin and the packaging of this balm in a tube makes it a convenient product to bring along in my travel bag!

NEW The Jojoba Company EE Cream

The Jojoba Company is a Australian skin/body care brand which uses 100% pure natural Jojoba Oil as the core ingredient in their products to help moisturise and nourish the skin. What I love about this Aussie brand is that their products are completely free from harmful ingredients such as: detergents, chemicals, parabens, artificial fragrances, colours, PEGs, mineral oil and sodium lauryl sulphate. Additionally, The Jojoba Company do not test on animals.

The Jojoba Company recently released the first ever EE cream, a.k.a. Jojoba Bead & Bamboo Facial Exfoliant (A$39.95/80ml), which aims to deeply cleanse, renew and rebalance skin. I was super excited when I was offered the opportunity to trial this face care product, since it could be used as either an exfoliant or a luxurious face mask that you could leave on for 10-15 min for a more intense treatment! My skin is always in need of a pamper, so this EE Cream arrived at a perfect time!

The core ingredients of this wonder EE Cream include Pure Australian Jojoba (provides antioxidants and Vitamins A, D and E), Ivory Clay and Shea Butter to hydrate, Bamboo extract to exfoliate, Witch Hazel to calm and tone, Salicylic Acid (natural Beta Hydroxy Acid) to prevent blemishes and Jojoba Bead to nourish and exfoliate skin. This EE Cream is ideal for both normal and sensitive skin types.

I've been using this EE Cream once every third day (recommended usage is 1-3 times per week) and have been trialling this product as an exfoliant and face mask. As an exfoliant I only end up using a small pearl sized amount and gently massage the cream in circular motions to my forehead, cheeks (inner cheeks and sides of my nose) and chin area. The consistency of the EE Cream is just about right to gently spread across my skin and the Jojoba Beads are well dispersed. The scent of this EE Cream reminds me of oranges and Kaolin clay. In fact, this EE Cream does contain Kaolin as the second core ingredient (after Aqua) and Orange Peel Oil also forms a part of this lovely cream. The cream feels very gentle and I could feel the beads against my skin which work well to buff away dead skin cells to reveal smoother and softer skin. My skin feels relaxed, nourished and well hydrated, I'm so glad this EE Cream doesn't dry my skin out!

When using this EE Cream as a face mask (~10min), the Kaolin clay component of this EE Cream does help to draw out impurities deep inside my pores. While rinsing my skin with lukewarm water, the Jojoba Beads assist in gently buffing any residual impurities on my skin. I love the dual action of this cream as a face mask followed by an exfoliator as the cream was so gentle and soothing to use. It really does feel like I'm getting a thorough cleanse each time I use this EE Cream!

All in all, I prefer to alternate the use this EE Cream as an exfoliant and face mask. I've been using this EE Cream as a face mask once a week and every other time I've been using this as an exfoliant. If you have sensitive skin, then I would happily recommend this EE Cream as the beads are far from being abrasive and the nourishing ingredients help to soothe, hydrate and ease my skin.

The Jojoba Company EE Cream is available at selected pharmacies nationwide and online here.

Review: Jojoba Anti Aging Day Cream SPF15

The Jojoba Company- ''Good for you, good for the Earth''

The Jojoba Company is well known for their natural and organic based skincare products containing the key ingredient pure Australian Golden Jojoba. I've used both the Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum and have found that these products are soothing and replenishing to my skin. What I also love about these two products is the fact that they are Australian made from Australian natural plant extracts. To read more about these two products see my blog post here.

The Jojoba Company- ''Skin protection comes naturally with The Jojoba Company’s new Anti-aging Day Cream with SPF15. Specially designed to protect, moisturise and nourish your skin through the warmer months, this 96% natural moisturiser also provides a broad spectrum SPF15 barrier to protect skin against harmful UVA/UVB rays without clogging pores.''

A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to trial The Jojoba Company's first ever skincare product containing SPF, Anti-Aging Day Cream SPF15. Anti-aging day cream helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and  is enriched with a plethora of natural botanical ingredients. Key ingredients include: Australian Jojoba, natural plant oils and extracts, anti-oxidants, green tea and vitamin E. The concoction of these ingredients formulated within anti-aging day cream ensures the skin is luxuriously moisturised, hydrated and supple. I've been using this Anti-aging day cream after applying Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum to my skin in the morning.

I like the fact that Anti-aging day cream SPF15 creates a skin barrier to protect the skin from UVA/UVB rays and prolong the ageing of skin. Here in Queensland the sun shines high and bright throughout the year to the point where spring doesn't exists, so I always opt for day creams which contain SPF. This day cream contains SPF15, though I would have preferred if the SPF was higher, say SPF30.

Anti-aging day cream comes in a very convenient soft silicon-like squeezable tube which feels like the supple and soft texture of skin we all desire. I really like the material of the packaging as it's slip-free and different! Upon first twisting open the cap, the tube had a foil-seal. This ensures that the cream is fresh once received. The cream has an expiry until 2013 (as it contains SPF), so that's plenty of time for me to use up this product and enjoy the benefits of the ingredients formulated in the cream.

The cream is rich yet lightweight and not thick at all. Despite the relatively thin consistency, I found it difficult to evenly spread this rich cream across my face. Hence, applying the cream using gentle circular motions took a little longer than with other creams to fully penetrate into the skin. The cream felt very hydrating and the scent was very subtle. I'm not a fan of highly scented products, so it's a great thing that this day cream has a subtle scent.

My skin looked relatively shiny after application and I thought that this cream is still in the process of penetrating through my skin. However, after a few minutes my T-zone still looked slightly shiny. I would assume the application of Anti-aging day cream is not entirely suitable with my combination/oily skin type as its purpose does not control oil, which is one of my skin concerns. I enjoy the benefits of vitamin E and natural plant oils/extracts which leaves me skin feeling nourished, hydrated and protected from the sun rays, therefore, it's best for me to only apply this day cream to my cheeks and neck before stepping outdoors.

The Jojoba Company products do not contain parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, petrochemicals, phthalates, harmful chemicals or detergents.

The Jojoba Company Anti-Aging Day Cream SPF 15 was launched recently and costs A$29.95 for a 40 mL tube. For more information please visit The Jojoba Company website here.
***NB: I've just been told that the reason why Anti-aging day cream took a little while to penetrate the skin is that it contains no parabens or anything artificial to help improve the cream to sink in fast. ***

Review: The Jojoba Company Skincare Products

Recently, I was given the opportunity to trial the Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum from The Jojoba Company- Australia's primary producer of pure, golden jojoba and jojoba based skincare products.

L-R: Jojoba Absolute Serum and Pure Australian Golden Jojoba

I've never come across The Jojoba Company until now and my initial thoughts about the brand name is that their products must be natural based and have Jojoba as the key ingredient. On the basis of The Jojoba Company, the entire range is natural based and formulated from the amazing qualities of pure Australian golden jojoba. I love using Australian and natural based skincare products as these products are always gentle and compatible with my skintype and texture. Ingredients derived from Australian plant extracts are considered as friendly to the skin and natural based skincare products are beneficial for the skin.

'Jojoba Oil is very similar to the natural oil our skin produces. It contains vitamins A,B, D and E and is very rich in anti oxidants. It penetrates the skin rapidly and restores the skin's natural PH. It is excellent for acne as it dissolves excess sebum from the skin, reinforces the skin and cleans the pores. It helps to reduce stretch marks, scarring, skin marks and wrinkles'-The Jojoba Company

'Jojoba Absolute Serum is an intensive blend of hyaluronic acid, beta glucan, vitamin B3, coffee fruit extract, Siberian ginseng to tighten and firm, lilli pilli, Kakadu plum with ultra concentrated vitamin C and pure, cold pressed golden jojoba.'-The Jojoba Company

'Hyaluronic acid is an acid that occurs naturally in the skin. It holds 1000 times its own weight in water and will naturally plump the skin. It helps t the skin to retain its natural moisture by adjusting its moisture absorption depending on the humidity in the air. It boosts hydration and elasticity and helps to maintain levels of collagen and elastin.'-The Jojoba Company

The Jojoba Company skincare products are formulated using natural ingredients and are NOT tested on animals. This is something that I usually look for in skincare and cosmetic products.

The Jojoba Company skincare products are also free of nasty ingredients such as: parabens, sulphates, silicones, petrochemicals, phthalates, mineral oil, paraffin and artificial fragrance or colours.

Directions and Ingredients list of the Jojoba Absolute Serum

How to use Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum:

1. After cleansing and toning the skin, apply 2-3 drops of Golden Jojoba onto the palm of your clean hand
2. Tap fingertips onto the Golden Jojoba lightly
3. Press fingertips gently for about 2 seconds on the cheeks, forehead, chin and décolletage to distribute evenly. Make sure you avoid rubbing the product onto the skin as this type of movement may stretch the skin.
4. Whilst the skin is still moist, apply 1-2 drops of Jojoba Absolute Serum to your fingertips and apply the product the same way as applying the Golden Jojoba.
5. Lastly, apply your usual day/night moisturiser.

Review:

Both the Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum are packaged in a simple yet sophisticated frosted glass bottle with a convenient pump and cap. The small nozzle allows for an easy flow and control of dispensing the product.

I like the idea of this type of packaging as you could re-use the bottles.

Pure Australian Golden Jojoba is not a cream, nor gel, nor fluid, nor oil...it's a liquid wax!

My initial thoughts of this Golden Jojoba is that it might just sit on my skin. I was infact wrong! The key step to applying the Jojoba is by gently pressing it onto the skin. It doesn't clog/block my pores and doesn't leave a greasy trail. Golden Jojoba penetrates through my skin as it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and a little bit shiny at the surface
(this is a good thing and I'll tell you why soon).

I also apply Golden Jojoba to my nails, the heels of my feet and my elbows to reduce the look of dry skin and lock in the moisture that my skin needs.
I enjoyed using this product as it is versatile.

The Jojoba Absolute Serum has a gel/fluid-like consistency which makes it very easy to spread across the face evenly. My skin feels revitalised and it's great that this serum is concentrated with antioxidants and nutrients to protect and nourish the skin. Serums are used so that these good nutrients and ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin in comparison to a moisturiser. Applying the serum to moist skin helps the serum to absorb efficiently into the skin.
I found the serum to be very compatible with the use of the Golden Jojoba.

My skincare regime including Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum worked like a breeze to provide my skin with the daily intake of nutrients and vitamins, however, these products did leave my skin (combination skintype) looking a little shiny after application. Despite this, I am still using these products, because I love how soothing and replenishing these products feel on my skin and will only use these as part of my night time regime.

Pure Australian Golden Jojoba is available in three sizes:

30 mL ($18.95)
85 mL ($22.95)
175 mL ($29.95)

Jojoba Absolute Serum is only available in one size

30 mL ($79.95)
