Violet Box (April 2014)

I hope you all had a wonderful and fun-filled Easter last weekend! I was feeling ecstatic when my April Violet Box arrived at my door step right after the long weekend came to an end! It was a nice surprise to receive some beauty goodies after indulging in some delectable chocolate Easter treats with family and friends over the break!

Cedel Scented Hairspray in either Oriental Blossom, Raspberry Punch and Coconut Bay (A$4.99/100g, full sized received) - The new generation of hairsprays have finally arrived and these innovative beauties by Cedel feature a delightful scent to ensure your hair smells beautiful all day long! I received the full size Cedel Oriental Blossom Hairspray and I love the bright and colourful packaging of this product. The size is compact, not too small nor big, so you could carry this while on a road trip or when you're going to a sleep-over. The Oriental Blossom scent smells pleasant just like a bouquet of fresh-cut flowers!

Bioderma Crealine H2O (A$19.95/100ml, A$29.95/250ml, A$39.95/500ml, 20ml sample received) - So many people have raved about this wonder makeup removing solution that I'm surprised that I myself have not yet tried this!  Bioderma Crealine H2O is a gentle, fragrance-free and non-rinse solution that helps to cleanse and remove makeup and residues on skin. If you have sensitive and intolerant skin, then this solution may be perfect for you.

Teeez Trend Cosmetics Chain of Stones Nail Lacquer in Melted Copper (A$15/8.5ml, full size received) - The shade Melted Copper is a gorgeous burnt orange/copper shade with a holographic finish. It's the perfect shade for this Autumn season! The formulation of this nail lacquer features four different effects: mirror, mirage, holographic and high gloss. Two coats is plenty to achieve a beautiful finish with a unique holographic effect!

Villainess Dulces en Fuego Whipped! (A$15/170g, sample pot received) -  I first came across the Villainess Dulces en Fuego range when I received my January Violet Box early in the year (review here). Their bath and body products smell so heavenly and sweet! The sample of Whipped body creme that I received has a musky bitter chocolate scent with vanilla and hints of citrus, nutmeg and black pepper. This body creme smells so divine thanks to the mixture of cherry kernel oil, antioxidant-rich grapeseed oil, light coconut oil and mango butter! This body creme makes my skin feel silky smooth and smell ohh sooo delicious!!

Be a Bomshell Eyeliner in Midnight (A$19, full size received) -  Be a Bombshell cosmetics seems to be popping up frequently in my Violet Box subscriptions. Their eyeliner in the shade Midnight is a dark navy shade which you could use to create a bold and sexy cat eye look. My eye lids are usually oily, so I always steer clear from liquid eyeliners and just stick to pencil/gel liners. I will definitely gift this to my bestie, who I know will love this shade!

My April Violet Box was quite exciting as I absolutely LOVE the variety of products that I could use on my hair, skin, nails, eyes and body! The Villainess Dulces en Fuego Whipped body creme has a yummy scent that is to die for, the Teeez Trend Cosmetics Nail Lacquer is the perfect shade to show off this season, the innovative Cedel Scented Hairspray will be my go-to hair product because it smells lovely and the Bioderma Crealine H2O will be my skin care saviour to rid all impurities and makeup on my face and eyes! I am very content with the products included in this month's Violet Box and as always, I cannot wait to see what will be included in the next installment of Violet Box!

Violet box subscriptions cost A$22.95/month, A$66/3 months, A$130/6 months or A$250/year and you will receive a surprise Violet Box containing 4-6 beauty treats (full/sample size) at your door step every month. For more information on Violet Box, please click here

NEW Sisley Phyto-Lip Twist

Sisley have launched their latest lip product called the Phyto-Lip Twist tinted balm (A$50/each), which features a twistable pencil that delivers a punch of colour, a burst of shine and an array of moisturising benefits to the lips! These gorgeous Phyto-Lip Twist tinted balms are available in 6 beautiful shades (1 Nude, 2 Baby, 3 Peach, 4 Pinky, 5 Berry and 6 Cherry) and packaged in an eye-catching zebra stripped pattern.

I was kindly sent the shade 4 Pinky which is a vibrant, neon fuchsia pink shade that delivers a gorgeous pop of flirty pink to my lips! The coverage is slightly buildable and the formula glides along my lip so easily whilst maintaining the moisture of my lips throughout the day. I believe the pigmentation of the shade Pinky, the 4th shade in the range, lies between sheer and pigmented. Shades 1 to 3 are sheer and shade 5 to 6 in the range are the most pigmented shades.

The formula is lightweight and longevity is quite good for a tinted lip balm. During the day the pigmentation fades to a subtle pink bitten lip stain. The formula is non-drying and hydrates my lips during the day for a good 3-4 hours until I need to re-apply. Usually, I would touch up after lunch to bring in the gorgeous fuchsia pink finish to my lips!

The juicy and wet finish gives my lips a healthy and lovely finish for an everyday makeup look. The formula feels comfortable on my lips while providing a a glossy and pigmented finish like lipstick and moisturising feel like a tinted lip balm. I love the hybrid action of Sisley Phyto-Lip Twist!

Have you tried Sisley's new Phyto-Lip Twist before?

NEW ELES Cosmetics Berry Crush Collection

ELES Cosmetics is an Australian mineral makeup brand and their products are formulated using the finest micronised minerals, antioxidants and nutrients (including Ginseng, Aloe and Chamomile) to help protect, correct and nourish skin. ELES Cosmetic products are formulated to 'naturally relax, refresh and rejuvenate the skin' and to 'complement today's modern woman'. I love cosmetic brands who take into consideration the natural beauty of skin and the importance of protecting skin from premature aging. ELES Cosmetics are free from nasty chemicals and pore-clogging ingredients to ensure the skin can breathe naturally while wearing a veil of cosmetics.

ELES Cosmetics Berry Brush Collection
The latest collection to arrive at ELES Cosmetics is the Berry Crush Collection (click here to view the entire Berry Crush Collection) to complement the Autumn season with bronze hues and accents of berry shades! I was recently sent some lovely eye and cheek makeup products from the ELES Berry Crush Collection to trial and these included the following: ELES Brow Sculpt, ELES Powder Liner Pencil in Copper and ELES Mineral Blush in Mixed Berries.

ELES Cosmetics Brow Sculpt in Brunette
The ELES Brow Sculpt (A$55/1.4g) is available in 3 shades (Blonde, Auburn and Brunette) and features a brow shadow (on the left) and brow sculpt wax (on the right) to allow you to fill in and set your brows for flawless, defined and perfectly shaped brows. It is best to use a small angled brush to gentle fill in the brows, from the centre outwards, followed by a thin coating of wax to set and define the shape of the brows. The high pigmentation of the shadow and wax means that you need to use a light hand before building up the intensity, just to avoid over-doing your brows. I always aim for a natural look to my brows, so it is important to carefully and gently fill-in the brows. I love this shade in Brunette as it does work well to provide natural looking brows and helps to cover any imperfections. This is a staple product in my beauty bag and I cannot leave the house without using it to perfect the shape and colour of my brows!

ELES Powder Liner Pencil (A$43.25) is available in 4 shades (Tornado, Copper, Fog and Twilight), where the shade Copper is the latest addition to this range. This Powder Liner Pencil applies on like a dream as the pencil feels as a soft as applying powder and glides on effortlessly without pulling or tugging the skin, thanks to the ingredient Candelilla Wax which allows soft and supple application. I've been using the shade Copper as an eye liner to line the edge of my eye lid to define the eyes whilst providing a soft powdery metallic finish. The shade doesn't smudge easily and stays put during the day. The formula of this Powder Liner Pencil contains Titanium Dioxide, which is a natural mineral for protection and longevity. This Powder Liner Pencil is a dual ended eye liner pencil, so on the other end there is a smudger which you could use to achieve a soft and sultry look to the eyes.

ELES Mineral Blush (A$39.50/4g) is an amazingly highly pigmented blush that I first encounted 2 years ago when the only shade in the line was Rose Marble (reviewed here). I am thankful that my prayers have been answered, because there are now three shades (Rose Marble, Coral Sun and Mixed Berries) of available, Mixed Berries being the latest shade to the line! Mixed Berries is a gorgeous plum/rose shade which suits warm skin tones the best. I have fair skin, so this shade works best when I use a light hand to achieve a natural flush of plum to my cheeks. The satin-like finish is very naturally looking and makes my complexion look healthy and glow-y! This mineral blusher contains Vitamins A, E and C to condition and nourish the skin. What's not to love about this gorgeous blusher!!??

If you are a virgin to ELES Cosmetics products I would highly recommend you check out their products online (here). ELES Cosmetics products are so gentle to the skin and their range of shades are quite beautiful. The site offers free shipping, so you only pay for the products you buy!

NEW The Jojoba Company EE Cream

The Jojoba Company is a Australian skin/body care brand which uses 100% pure natural Jojoba Oil as the core ingredient in their products to help moisturise and nourish the skin. What I love about this Aussie brand is that their products are completely free from harmful ingredients such as: detergents, chemicals, parabens, artificial fragrances, colours, PEGs, mineral oil and sodium lauryl sulphate. Additionally, The Jojoba Company do not test on animals.

The Jojoba Company recently released the first ever EE cream, a.k.a. Jojoba Bead & Bamboo Facial Exfoliant (A$39.95/80ml), which aims to deeply cleanse, renew and rebalance skin. I was super excited when I was offered the opportunity to trial this face care product, since it could be used as either an exfoliant or a luxurious face mask that you could leave on for 10-15 min for a more intense treatment! My skin is always in need of a pamper, so this EE Cream arrived at a perfect time!

The core ingredients of this wonder EE Cream include Pure Australian Jojoba (provides antioxidants and Vitamins A, D and E), Ivory Clay and Shea Butter to hydrate, Bamboo extract to exfoliate, Witch Hazel to calm and tone, Salicylic Acid (natural Beta Hydroxy Acid) to prevent blemishes and Jojoba Bead to nourish and exfoliate skin. This EE Cream is ideal for both normal and sensitive skin types.

I've been using this EE Cream once every third day (recommended usage is 1-3 times per week) and have been trialling this product as an exfoliant and face mask. As an exfoliant I only end up using a small pearl sized amount and gently massage the cream in circular motions to my forehead, cheeks (inner cheeks and sides of my nose) and chin area. The consistency of the EE Cream is just about right to gently spread across my skin and the Jojoba Beads are well dispersed. The scent of this EE Cream reminds me of oranges and Kaolin clay. In fact, this EE Cream does contain Kaolin as the second core ingredient (after Aqua) and Orange Peel Oil also forms a part of this lovely cream. The cream feels very gentle and I could feel the beads against my skin which work well to buff away dead skin cells to reveal smoother and softer skin. My skin feels relaxed, nourished and well hydrated, I'm so glad this EE Cream doesn't dry my skin out!

When using this EE Cream as a face mask (~10min), the Kaolin clay component of this EE Cream does help to draw out impurities deep inside my pores. While rinsing my skin with lukewarm water, the Jojoba Beads assist in gently buffing any residual impurities on my skin. I love the dual action of this cream as a face mask followed by an exfoliator as the cream was so gentle and soothing to use. It really does feel like I'm getting a thorough cleanse each time I use this EE Cream!

All in all, I prefer to alternate the use this EE Cream as an exfoliant and face mask. I've been using this EE Cream as a face mask once a week and every other time I've been using this as an exfoliant. If you have sensitive skin, then I would happily recommend this EE Cream as the beads are far from being abrasive and the nourishing ingredients help to soothe, hydrate and ease my skin.

The Jojoba Company EE Cream is available at selected pharmacies nationwide and online here.

Violet Box (March 2014)

One thing I look forward to each month is my Violet Box subscription! I wonder what exciting goodies are inside!

A sneak peak into the April Violet Box reveals a new brand collaboration called Teeez Trend Cosmetics. Teeez Trend Cosmetics launched in 2004 in the Netherlands and it's exciting to see their products becoming available here in Australia! I'm already looking forward to the April Violet Box!

Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine in shade #47 (A$39.95, 1.5g sample received) - This highly pigmented shade of coral features a microcollagen instant lip plumper, and long term anti-ageing lip treatment. The scent reminds me of butterscotch, which is quite nice for a lip gloss! This mini lip gloss is just perfect for my handbag!

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in shade Gogo Girl (A$4.95/15ml, full size received) - I received the same shade in my September 2013 Violet Box, so this one will go to my sister, she loves anything red!

Starlooks Gen Pencil in shade Amethyst (A$19.50, full size received) - These Gem Eye Pencils are highly metallic and instantly brightens the eyes when applied to the inner corners of the eyes! The shade Amethyst is a pretty lilac shade with high metallic shine. I'm quite surprised how pigmented and soft these pencils apply.

Love Those Lashes New Silk Strip Lashes (A$14.95, full set received) - These fluttery lashes are made from silk and look beautiful and natural! I love that these lashes are natural-looking and that they don't look too dramatic. These would be perfect to wear for high tea!

Acorelle Skincare Serm (A$58/30ml, 2ml sample received) - This serum is a powerful anti-oxidant which helps to nourish ageing skin.

Overall, there was a great mix of cosmetics and skincare products in this months Violet Box, however, I was a tad disappointed to receive another Sinful Colors Nail Polish in the same shade. My favourite products are the mini Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine and the Love Those Lashes Silk Strip Lashes!

What did you receive in your March Violet Box?

NEW Manicare Facial Cleansing Brush

Recently, I incorporated the new Manicare Facial Cleansing Brush (A$11.95) into my skincare routine and I haven't looked back! The Manicare Facial Cleansing Brush comes with super soft Nylon bristles which help to gently exfoliate and cleanse the skin. To use the Manicare Facial Cleansing Brush, simply wet the bristles in lukewarm water, squeeze a decent sized amount of cleansing product onto your skin and then use the Manicare Facial Cleansing brush to gently exfoliate and cleanse the skin in small circular motions. I love that you could control the circular motion of the brush against your skin and that you could concentrate on applying more pressure to areas in need of exfoliation, for example the T-zone. The bristles are incredibly soft and gentle, leaving me with beautiful, flourished and clean skin! The brush comes with a long handle, so you could comfortably hold the brush and control the brushing pressure/speed. The brush also comes with a plastic cap to maintain the cleanliness of the bristles. I absolutely love using brush and would highly recommend this! The Manicare Facial Cleansing Brush is so affordable, so definitely give this nifty brush a go!
