Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Colour in B Girl and Blacky O

Sally Hansen recently launched their innovative Miracle Gel Colour (A$16.95/14.7ml) nail collection featuring a hybrid lacquer/gel formula that delivers lasting gloss, shine and colour! Another key attribute of this new gel formula is that you could achieve long lasting colour without the need for a light source! Available in 18 gorgeous shades, all you need is a coat or two of Miracle Gel polish and then a single coat of Miracle Gel Top Coat to protect the colour surface of Miracle Gel polish.

The two shades of Miracle Gel Colour that I used to create the nail look in the above image are 'B Girl' and 'Blacky O'. B Girl is a gorgeous creamy and pastel Tiffany green shade and Blacky O is a solid black glossy shade. These two shades are my favourite shades from the range and are perfect to wear during this Spring season! If you're looking for some Miracle Gel nail inspiration and you have an Instagram account, be sure to check out the mesmerising nail art under the hashtag 'OMGel'.

I love love love the new Miracle Gel range by Sally Hansen as the Miracle Gel Colour polish lasted on my nails for more than 7 days before small chips start to become visible. This is the longest time that I've applied nail polish/top coat and my nails remain bold, glossy and full of colour for a full 7 days!

What is your opinion on Sally Hansen's brand new Miracle Gel formula?

Sally Hansen Triple Shine in #220 Flame On

Sally Hansen Triple Shine in #220 Flame On (A$9.95/10ml) is a gloriously lush hot pink shade that is borderline pink and red on the colour spectrum. This sultry and sexy shade of pink/red is the perfect match to any red lip makeup look! The formula of the new Sally Hansen Triple Shine nail polish range gives an uber glossy and shiny finish to my paws! I love the smooth and easy application of the formula and the fact that two coats will suffice for complete opacity. Drying time is quick as the consistency of the formula is just about right, not too gluggy and not too thin. If you are on the hunt for some glossy finish nail polish that is super easy to apply, I would definitely recommend the new Sally Hansen Triple Shine nail polish range!

Which shades of pink and red nail polishes would you recommend?
Have you tried any shades from the Sally Hansen Triple Shine nail polish range?

Sally Hansen Triple Shine in #200 Pixie Slicks

Sally Hansen Triple Shine in #200 Pixie Slicks (A$9.95/10ml) is a gorgeous creamy neon pink that will surely make people's heads turn! I wore this shade whilst shopping with my girls during the weekend and you won't believe how many people turned their heads as I walked past! The shade Pixie Slicks is on the sheer side of the spectrum and does require two to three coats to achieve full opacity. These brand new Triple Shine nail polishes are housed in a smaller bottle containing 10ml compared to the Complete Salon Manicure range which houses 14.7ml. Despite the large discrepancy in size, the pricing is still quite affordable for the amount you receive. Although Pixie Slicks is relatively bright and beautifully attractive, the new Triple Shine formula Sally Hansen recently launched gives a my nails and super glossy and glass-like finish! I am in love with this new formula and can't wait to add more shades to my collection!

NEW Sally Hansan Spring Racing Collection (limited edition)

I love the Spring Racing season, because it gives me the opportunity to wear pretty dresses, jewellery and of course an eye-catching fascinator! Recently, Sally Hansen launched their new range of limited edition Spring Racing Collection that consists of 7 new Complete Salon Manicure nail colours (A$14.95/14.7ml)! These pretty pastels and chic neutral shades will have you race-day-ready for the Spring Racing festivities!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Spring Racing Collection. L-R: Rose Outlook, Peach of Cake, Sheer Bliss, Tickle Me Pink, Gray-t Escape, Good to Grape and Barracuda.

The brush applicator was developed exclusively by Sally Hansen to accomplish precision every time you paint your nails. The tip of the brush is rounded so that you could coat your nails in 2-3 simple swipes and the body of the brush is flat, so that the formula could hug the contours of your nails and that way you could evenly coat the bed of your nails. Each brush is actually made with 800 tiny bristles and the brush is shorter than most other applicators for quick and easy pick up of the nail polish without overloading.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is formulated with protecting shine enhancers for lasting shine and a satin smooth finish similar to that of gel nail formulas. Additionally, these shine enhancers also claim to provide maximum chip-resistance. The consistency of these formulas are somewhat thicker than most other nail polish formulas I have used and the pigmentation is excellent! One coat is sufficient for full opacity, however, I tend to apply two coats to extend the wear.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Barracuda (L) and Gray-t Escape (R).
Today I will be reviewing two of the shades from the Spring Racing Collection and these are the popular and most talked about shade Barracuda and the trendy and chic shade Gray-t Escape.

Barracuda is such a gorgeous pastel sky blue shade. This is the perfect pastel blue shade and it's a great shade to wear this Spring season!

Gray-t Escape is a sophisticated nude, which I believe suits all skin tones. I absolutely love love LOVE this nude number! I could wear this shade with any outfit and it would just make my paws look very luxe and elegant!

Melbourne Cup Day lands on Tuesday the 5th of November this year and Sally Hansen is currently offering the chance to win tickets to the Spring Races! The prize includes return flights, accommodation for you and a friend $1500 spending money and much more! For more details, please see in-store or visit the Sally Hansen Australia Facebook page. Now this competition is definitely worth a shot!

Also, if you’ve ever wondered why Sally Hansen designed their range of Complete Salon Manicure bottles so chunky and bold, check out my recent post which explains why here.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Spring Racing Collection is available exclusively at Priceline and Priceline Pharmacies for a limited time.

Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure Bottle Design Explained!

L-R: Barracuda (limited edition), Kook-A-Mango and Gray-t Escape (limited edition).
Have you ever wondered why Sally Hansen designed their new range of Complete Salon Manicure nail polishes so bulky and chunky than most other nail polish bottles out there?

Well, at first I thought the design looked quite cute although chubby compared to other nail polish bottles in my collection. Additionally, these do tend to use up most of the space in my nail polish drawer. Despite this, there is actually a really good reason as to why they have designed the way they are.

I actually discovered the purpose behind their bottle design by accident! You see, whilst painting my nails, I sometimes accidentally knock or tip an open bottle of nail polish and... you know what happens next! But wait for it! The consequence of tipping a bottle of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure on its side simply decelerates the flow of the formula escaping the bottle! The bottle essentially lies horizontally on its side on an angle, and hence, the nail polish formula doesn’t spill out so quickly! Very clever!!

What do you think of the new bottle design of Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure range?
Do you love or loathe it?

Monday Manicure: Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in Tweedy and Chanel Le Vernis in Pink Mink

A combination of Chanel Le Vernis in Pink Mink and Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in Tweedy* is what's on my nails right now! Chanel Le Vernis in Pink Mink is one of my luxe nail colours which is a sheer pink/beige shade with a smooth jelly finish. Under certain lighting, subtle shimmers of silver and pink can be seen. The formula applies on like a dream without any streaking and 3 coats is adequate to give an elegant and classy nail look. Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in Tweedy (reviewed here) is such a versatile textured nail colour with white and black bar glitter that would compliment any shade of nail lacquer. I love the combination of pink, white and black hues on my nails that would suit my pastel pink blouse I'm going to wear to work today :)

What's on your nails today?

NEW Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Textured Nail Colours

Sally Hansen recently introduced the innovative fabric finish Fuzzy Coat Collection (A$9.95/9.17ml) to not only keep your nails looking warm and snug, but also trendy and fashionable to suit your favourite knits!

There are a total of 7 Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Textured Nail Colours which feature bar glitters with a clear base. The colours in the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Collection include the following textured nail colours:
  • Wool Lite - Pastel pink bar glitter
  • All Yarned Up - Orange, blue and yellow bar glitter
  • Peach Fuzz - Orange and yellow bar glitter
  • Tight Knit - Navy blue and white bar glitter
  • Fuzz-Sea - Turquoise and yellow bar glitter
  • Wool Knot - Light blue and white bar glitter
  • Tweedy - Black and white bar glitter
Five of the 7 shades have two differently coloured bar glitter, whereas All Yarned Up (one of the most popular shades) has 3 colours and Wool Lite has only 1 colour of bar glitter.

I was kindly sent three bottles of Fuzzy Coat Textured Nail Colours to play with and these were Peach Fuzz, Wool Knot and Tweedy.

The bar glitters are quite well dispersed that I really wish there were more bar glitters formulated in each bottle. Despite this, you can easily build up the amount of bar glitters on each nail by applying additional coats. Just remember to allow each layer to dry for a few seconds before re-applying. Applying up to 3 coats is sufficient to give a nice and well covered 'fuzzy coat' finish. Alternatively, these Fuzzy Coats nicely compliment any other shade of nail lacquer you have, so you can create an endless array of nail looks to your hearts desire!

3 coats each of Peach Fuzz, Tweedy and Wool Knot.

What is your take on textured nail colours?
Are you a fan of these 'fuzzy' textured nail finishes?

xx Rose

Google Reader to close + TBRR Turns 2 Giveaway!

I’m sure most of you beauties are well aware that Google Reader (news has been floating around that GFC will not close, only Google Reader) will come to an end on July 1st2013. It’s sad news indeed, however, one way in which we can all keep connected and on track in the beauty blogosphere is to use Bloglovin’, which is similar in contrast to Google Reader. The main difference is that you need to login to the Bloglovin' website to view the list of blogs you follow and as for those who are following your blog... well you can choose to receive an e-mail notification once someone follows your blog, since the list of your followers seems to be non-existent. Despite this, the settings and layout of Bloglovin' are coherent and very easy to navigate.

On a side note, The Beauty of Red Roses turns TWO and I’m hosting a Giveaway to celebrate! I’d like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of my loyal readers for coming by and spending some time on The Beauty of Red Roses. I’m very grateful to have met so many lovely beauty bloggers in person and via the blogosphere since The Beauty of Red Roses was born, so thank you all once again for your support!

Without further ado, here are the details of my Giveaway!

I’ve collected a few beauty products and accessories from my favourite brands and I will be giving away this bunch of beauty/accessory products to TWO lucky winners! August Empties

Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover: This eye makeup remover rocks my world! It removes all traces of eye liner, shadow and mascara and it doesn't irritate my eyes. I received this as a gift and being 30ml, it lasted me quite awhile.

Maybelline Baby Lips (reviewed here): This lip balm smells berry-delicious! It's nice and small, so fits nicely in my jeans pocket.

L'Oreal Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer: This primer comes in a jar which does seem un-hygienic, so you need to use a small plastic spatula to scoop out the product. The primer is relatively thick pastel pink coloured mousse-like formula, so using the warmth from my hands helps to absorb it through the skin. The formula gives a nice silicone feel to the skin and makes a great base for foundation. I'm not a fan of the thick texture, so I don't see myself re-purchasing.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex: I thoroughly enjoyed using this serum as it contains Hyaluronic Acid and antioxidants which help to moisturise the skin and combat free radicals as a night treatment. It's so exxy, so maybe using up a sample of this wasn't such a great idea... well not so good for my purse!

Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser (reviewed here): This gel cleanser is great for my combination/oily skin type as it feels soo gentle to my skin and cleanses my skin really well. It's non-drying and leaves my skin feeling smooth.

Sally Hansen Moisturising Foot Creme in Lavender: My skin inevitably becomes dry during winter, so this foot creme came in really handy to hydrate and condition my dry heels. The scent is lavender, my favourite scent, so that's another great bonus!

Soap and Glory Flake Away: Soap and Glory products smell utterly divine! Flake Away is an amazing product which buffs my skin and leaves it feeling ultra smooth hydrated. Will definitely look into purchasing the full size!

ULittleBeauty Enriching Night Cream: I love all ULittleBeauty skincare and hair care products as they are nautral based products and smell wonderfully botanical. This night cream feels very hydrating on my skin and the texture is nice and lightweight.

Nivea Pure and Natural Hand Cream: I am a huge fan of nautral based products and this hand cream is one that I love! It contains bio Argan Oil which helps to nourish and hydrate my hands. During winter, this product was a necessity!

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (reviewed here): I love using dry shampoo and Klorane Dry Shampoo is an amazing product that's a must-have in my gym bag. It's great for travel and so quick and easy to use when my hair needs an instant refresher.

Have you used any of these products before? Which products have you finished recently?

Mini Haul: Sally Hansen + GWP at Priceline

There is currently an amazing Sally Hansen Starter Kit at Priceline which is actually a gift with purchase when you spend $20 or more. I just thought that I should share this with you all as I think the little PVC bag is really cute and convenient.

L-R: Vita-A Smoother and Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener
I purchased the Vita-A Smoother Lip Balm ($6.95) as I thought having a lip balm in the form of lipstick was really cute. The flavour of this balm is Peach and the scent reminds me of peach flavoured Ice Tea! There were also other scents with different vitamins to target specific lip concerns.

I also purchased the Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener ($16.95) as my nails are quite weak that I can't allow them to grow as long as I want, otherwise they will chip and break.  Fingers crossed my nails will become stronger!

Sally Hansen GWP at Priceline
This Sally Hansen Starter Kit includes a PVC bag which has plastic dividers to place bottles of nail polish and prevent them from clashing and breaking if you are using it for travel. I find the bag soo convenient! Also included was a top and base coat, High Definition nail colour, nail file and cuticle and hand cream. Oh there was also a little booklet containing information about the brand and all the products they house.

What do you think of this offer from Sally Hansen and Priceline? Which Sally Hansen products do you love?

Madison Magazine + Butter London Nail Polish

December Issue of Madison Magazine
I was browsing the Woolworths aisle the other day and to my surprise I saw a Butter London nail polish attached to the front cover of the December issue of Madison with Jessica Gomes on the cover! Gee... the name Jessica is so common! Jessica is of Singaporean-Chinese and Portugese background and born and raised in Perth. She is an Australian model and it's great to see a new face to the cover of glossy mag Madison.

I love a great little bonus with mags, so if you pick up your December issue of Madison you will get the choice between two Butter London nail polishes in Trout Pout (salmon pink) and Yummy Mummy (creamy pale taupe). Plus you will also get a $10 discount when you purchase two Butter London nail polishes at participating retail outlets.

Butter London nail polishes are 3 free nail lacquers which means they are formulated without nasty and toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl-phthalate (DBP) or parabens.

Yummy Mummy looks like the perfect netural shade for Autumn/Winter and Trout Pout looks like the perfect shade for Spring/Summer, so I decided to choose Trout Pout.

I'm wearing Trout Pout on my nails today and here's what it looks like:

Trout Pout leans more towards coral in the above photos, however, it's actually more of a bright salmon pink shade. The consisteny of Butter London nail polishes is very creamy and smooth and two coats will give a completely opaque finish. The only downside is that this nail polish started to chip on my busy nails after one day.

I've taken another photo of my Trout Pout nails (below) under different lighting and shade appears to be closer to the actual colour.

To acheive the finished look, I used Sally Hansen Insta-Grip Fast Dry Base Coat, two coats of Butter London Trout Pout, OPI Rapidry Top Coat and finally Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Speed Dry Drops (love this stuff!!).

Did you grab your copy of Madison mag this month? Which shade did you choose?
Which nail polish shades will you be sporting this summer?
