Review: Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Beguile

Beguile Pure Pigment was featured in Illamasqua's Theatre of the Nameless Collection. You can read more about the Theatre of the Nameless Collection here.

Beguile was one of three pure pigments (Berber and Zeitgeist were the other two) in this collection. The effect of Beguile is stunning! It appears as a pure white with miniscule multi-coloured shimmers in the container, however, once applied, you could still pick up that true white shade amongst the pretty shimmers. This shade actually reminds me of Christmas and snow, although we don't get to feel snow up here in Brisbane at all!

The model in this image is wearing Beguile along her eye lids.
Beguile is definitely a multi-purpose pure pigment! Since Beguile is a shimmer based pigment, you could use Beguile to coat powder or cream based eyeshadows. A swipe of Beguile to your cheeks is another great way to turn your daytime blush to a dazzling night time look. You could also mix Beguile with your liquid foundation to create your own illuminator and apply small amounts to your cheeks, the bridge of your nose and chin to create a beautiful glow.

Are you a fan of Illamasqua Pure Pigments?
Which shades do you love?

Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Beguile was gifted to me when I attended the launch of The Theatre of the Nameless Collection in Brisbane.

Bellabox... You're The One! October Launch Box

Well what can I say....  I Bellabox!

Bellabox has been placed at the top of my list as being the best beauty sampling service in Australia!

Bellabox is a monthly subscription ($15 per month) where you receive 4-5 deluxe high-end, boutique and cult products from Australia and around the world, so you could try the best and the latest products on the market. To read more about BellaBox and their amazing blog, please visit their website at www.bellabox.com.au and read through my post on Bellabox here.
I am utterly impressed with the quality of service and friendly vibe I'm getting from Sarah and the Bellabox team. Their website is interesting and there's a lot to read, learn and discover about beauty and fashion from their online blog and magazine.

I received my Bellabox after subscribing last minute (the day before they sold out of their exciting October launch Bellabox) and I am just over the moon and happy with the goodies included. As part of the launch of Bellabox, for the October box only, I received 200 Bella Rewards Points (equates to A$20) to shop at bellabox.com.au! Yay!

Let's get onto the contents in my October Bellabox!

October Bellabox
Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre Foundation Primer, 15 mL worth $15 (full size 50 mL rrpA$50)
Napoleon Perdis is one of my favourite brands and the Auto Pilot Pre Foundation Primer is one of my makeup/skincare staples! The size of this primer is so generous and I'm glad I have a travel sized version as it will be great for travel.

Savoir Faire Lipstick in, full size rrpA$48
I've never heard of the brand Savoir Faire until I met Bellabox. Savoir Faire is an Australian cosmetics brand based in Perth, Western Australia, which includes a variety of cosmetic products to be adored. I was hugely surprised to see a Savoir Faire lipstick in Bellabox! I love the packaging and gorgeous shade of Miss You and truly adore this lipstick! The shade is a lighter baby pink than in the photo and it's a sheer but buildable pink shade.

Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant, 2x5 g worth ~A$6 (full size 50 ml A$59.95)
Alpha-H, another one of my favourite brands! I'm very excited to try this exfoliant as I've heard many rave reviews on this and it seems 'gentle' to the skin. So, that's a great thing for my sensitive skin.

One Skin System Daily Hydrate, 10 mL worth A$15.80 (full size 50 mL rrpA$79)
One Skin System is an interesting brand as I have never come across this before. One Skin System is another Australian brand which uses the botanical ingredient called Enfleurage in their luxe skincare products. I'm very excited about this product as the product itself looks very interesting!

Wine Wipes, one satchet worth A$0.79 (20 satchets rrpA$13.95)
I don't normally dine with wine, though these Wine Wipes (Aussie brand!) will come in handy if I ever come across wine stained teeth.

A'Kin Lavender, Geranium and Jojoba hand and nail cream, 30 ml worth A$7.20  (full size 75 mL rrpA$17.95)
I love products which soothe the mind and sense! A'Kin hand and nail cream is made from a concoction of beautiful and divine botanical ingredients and the scent is purely indulgent!

October Bellabox total worth ~A$93!

I am super duper impressed with Bellabox as they included a variety of products ranging from body care to skincare and cosmetics and some products included were full sized! Bellabox's October box was very generous and I'm surprised the contents add up to cost more than 6 times the subscription fee of Bellabox itself!

I highly reccomend subscribing to Bellabox if you are just as impressed as I am with the October Box!

October Beauty Box

I was a little disappointed when I saw the contents in my October Beauty Box. To be honest, I was not impressed with the size of some of the samples received and the type of products included was not entirely personalised based on the details I provided in my profile. I only liked two of the five brands included in this month's Beauty Box.

I guess that's the downfall with Beauty Box as the brands are high-end and so expensive that the samples come in very small quantities.

I love the majority of high end brands associated with Beauty Box. I'm usually indecisive when it comes to purchasing high end products, which is the major reason why I subscribed to Beauty Box so that I could get the chance to try before I buy.

If you haven't heard about Beauty Box you could read about it here.
If you're interested to see what was in the September Beauty Box, see my post here.

Without further ado, here are the contents of my October Beauty Box:

This month's Beauty Box features products of the Best Basic Beauty Essentials.

October Beauty Box

CK One Shock for her and for him, 1.2 mL vials each.
I really like the CK One Shock for her perfume vials as it's so convenient to slip one vial in my purse and spray myself during the day. CK One Shock for her is a fierce floral fragrance which smells beautiful! It's a nice surprise that there were two samples of each CK One Shock for him and for her. My partner likes the for him scent and I quite like this scent on him too.

Biotherm Aquasource Moisturiser, 15 mL jar.
I love Biotherm's Aquasource skincare range, especially this Aquasource moisturiser. It's a gel based moisturiser and it smells refreshing and beautiful. It's very hydrating and great for the weather change from cool to warm. This moisturiser is suitable for normal and combination skin which is perfect for me. Though seeing that everyone else had received the same moisturiser, it's a little disappointing to see that these boxes are not personalised based on our profiles. The size of this jar is very generous and based on the rrp of the full sized 50 mL jar (A$59), this deluxe sample is worth ~$17, so more than the cost of Beauty Box itself (A$14.95).

John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Shampoo & Conditioner, 44 mL each.
Travel sized  samples of John Frieda Full Repair Full Body shampoo and conditioner was included as the Full Body collection is the latest edition to John Frieda.

Shiseido Sheer Matifying compact foundation, 1g.

I was excited to see a sample of Shiseido Sheer Matifying compact foundation in my Beauty Box, but was disappointed to see that the shade of this powder foundation was way too dark for my light skintone, even though it says the shade is natural fair ivory on the packaging. Again, this just shows that Beauty Box doesn't seem to personalise their boxes.

Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days satchets.
These Garnier Body Intensive lotions packaged in satchets were probably the most disappointing of all samples I've received thus far.

All in all, the CK One Shock perfume vials and the huge jar of Biotherm Aquasource moisturiser were clearly the winners in the October Beauty Box.

So far, I've received samples from 10 brands associated with Beauty Box (September and October) and there are now 6 other brands which are yet to showcase in the November Beauty Box. I wonder which of the following brands will be featured next: Essie, Bobbi Brown, Jurlique, Bio-Oil, Clinique or Thalgo?

I am definitely looking forward to my next Beauty Box!

BellaBox Comes to Town!

Recently I subscribed to BellaBox, the Australian edition of Birchbox in the US, GlossyBox in the UK and Loose Button in the UK. BellaBox is the third beauty subscription service in Australia, following Lust Have It (initiated in August 2011) and BeautyBox (initiated in September 2011).

BellaBox is also a monthly subscription service where you will receive 4-5 deluxe beauty samples from the latest high-end, boutique and cult brands from Australia and around the world. For $15 per month (free postage) you will receive your BellaBox containing handpicked products ranging from skincare, makeup, fragrance, body, haircare and even lifestyle products.

BellaBox is delivered on the 15th of every month and sent via eParcel with tracking offered by Australia Post. You will receive an e-mail to notify you when your BellaBox has been sent and can track the parcel.

It seems BellaBox is the new and popular kid in town as they have already SOLD OUT of their exclusive October BellaBox which comes with 200 Bella Rewards points (which equates to $20 credit which is added to your account and can be used to purchase products from their online shop).

Be sure to browse through the BellaBox website as between BeautyBox, Lust Have It and BellaBox, I think the BellaBox website is more exciting, user-friendly and easy to navigate, with a few bonus features which neither BeautyBox and Lust Have It websites have.

With BellaBox, you have your own account dashboard/profile where you could view your membership status and view/purchase full sized products included in the monthly BellaBox. They also have a user-friendly membership rewards program where you could earn Bella Reward Points (by inviting your friends to the service, continuing your membership with BellaBox or reviewing the products) which convert to credit so you could purchase the full sized beauty products at a lower price. Their online shop also offers free shipping, which is a great bonus!

You could also read BellaBox's Blog, view products in the shop and read some interesting magazine articles.

The brands associated with BellaBox include:

Napoleon Perdis
A'kin
Gatineau
Panda Pen
Phytomer
Alpha-H
ONE Skin System
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
Pangea Organics- Ecocentric bodycare
Wine Wipes
Twistband
Kosmea
Savoir Faire Cosmetics
Orofluido- Beauty elixir for your hair

I have used and enjoyed using products from Napoleon Perdis and Alpha-H in the past, so for me, subscribing to BellaBox would give me the opportunity to try products from these 12 other brands- some of which I have not even heard of before.

I am very excited about BellaBox and eagerly waiting for my first BellaBox to arrive! I've received the tracking number for my BellaBox via e-mail on the 15th of this month, so I'm expecting for it's arrival mid week! Keep your eyes peeled to see what I receive in my first ever BellaBox!

**Please note: this post is not sponsored in any form. I am very excited about BellaBox, so decided to write this post and share with you what I know about this fabulous beauty sampling service. **

Review: Endota Spa Lavender & Alpine Pepper Hand Cream

' Endota': An indigenous Australian word meaning beautiful.

Endota Spa Lavender & Alpine Pepper Hand Cream is a luxurious hand cream which not only moisturises the skin, but also soothes the senses. Here is what Endota Spa had to say about this hand cream:

Endota Spa Organics-

''Down to earth ingredients  Lush lavender is a natural skincare ingredient renowned for its healing and meditative powers. Fragrant and absorbent, lavender helps to generate new skin, while healing and reducing the appearance of blemishes. Organic Australian alpine pepper improves circulation. Licorice naturally helps to lighten, brighten and even skin tone.''

''Heavenly results Hands love endota's heavenly, certified organic finger food. This deeply moisturising hand lotion nourishes cracked skin, and evens out skin tone for soft, younger-looking hands.''

Simple and sleek is what comes to mind when describing the packaging of Endota Spa's Lavender & Alpine Pepper Hand Cream. The cream is encased in a slim and wide tube with a white flip to cap. The tube came with a foil seal, so I know that the product is fresh.

I love the scent of lavender in general as it instantly makes me feel very relaxed and soothed. I've never heard of alpine pepper, so I don't really know what type of scent to expect. The combination of ingredients in this hand cream is absolutely divine and beautiful!

After application I felt that this hand cream needs to be massaged for about a minute to fully penetrate the skin and leave my skin feeling soft and supple. As previously mentioned in my review on The Jojoba Company Anti-Aging Day Cream, organic and natural based products tend to absorb through the skin slowly as they do not contain artificial ingredients or parabens which help them to do so.

This hand cream is a definite keeper as it gives me that indulgent and luxurious experience with notes of lavender escaping from the cream to energise my senses!

Endota Spa Lavender & Alpine Pepper Hand Cream is available in two sizes:
20 mL A$10 / 90 mL A$34

You can purchase Endota Spa products from David Jones or from the website HERE

Review: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

Dermalogica- ''This unique Rice-based enzyme powder microfoliates dulling debris and instantly leaves skin noticeably smoother and brighter. Contains no artificial fragrance or colour.''

Dermalogica's iconic Daily Microfoliant has been for years a highly sought after exfoliant. It's not a surprise this Daily Microfoliant won the Best Exfoliant as part of Beautyheaven's Glosscars Best in Beauty 2011 Award! I've heard and read so many stellar comments on this exfoliant and I was fortunate to have the chance to trial it out myself.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is encased in a sturdy plastic bottle with a twist top lid. The powder exfoliant is dispensed through the two holes at the top, so it's very easy to shake out the desired amount of product. I would prefer the addition of a sifter lid to avoid water from getting into the bottle.

20 cent sized amount of Daily Microfoliant
How to use:
1. Dispense about a 10 cent sized amount onto the palm of wet hands.
2. Rub your hands together to create a creamy paste.
3. Apply the cream microfoliant to your face in circular motions.
4. Massage the cream gently for about 1 minute to remove impurities from the skin surface.
5. Rinse thoroughly and apply your usual toner and moisturiser.

Since this exfoliant is in powder-form, you can create the perfect consistency which suits your needs just by mixng the powder with water. This is the first time I've used an exfoliant in powder-form and after a few uses, I found it very easy to use. I usually scrub and cleanse my face in the shower as it is convenient and I would avoid water running down the sides of my arms. With the use of the Daily Microfoliant, you're creating a paste so it doesn't get so messy as I thought it would!
I wasn't too sure how many parts of powder to water to use as sometimes I would end up with a relatively dry paste and other times it would be too watery. The best way around this is to thoroughly wet one hand and have a little well of water in the palm of your hand. Use your other hand, which is dry, and add some exfoliant to the wet hand. Then join your hands together to create the paste and apply to the face.
The powder comprises of vitamin C alongside papain enzyme and salicylic acid which gently microfoliate the skin’s surface and leaving my skin to appear brighter and smoother. I love the fact that this exfoliant does not leave my skin feeling dry, tight and red.

I love the feel of using the Daily Microfoliant as it gently buffs and polishes my skin as I can  feel of the gentle micro-beads or particles doing their thing in removing impurities and grime from a long day outdoors or in the office. In general, most exfoliants I have used in the past reccomend to use it 2 to 3 times a week. However, Dermalogica's famous version of the exfoliant is gentle enough to be used on a daily basis. I always find that my skin needs a good scrub to remove all impurities I've picked up during the day, so I'm really glad Dermalogica has come up with an exfoliant that could be used daily to ensure skin is feeling fresh and squeaky clean!

Have you tried Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant before?
Which exfoliant is your Holy Grail?

Review: Jojoba Anti Aging Day Cream SPF15

The Jojoba Company- ''Good for you, good for the Earth''

The Jojoba Company is well known for their natural and organic based skincare products containing the key ingredient pure Australian Golden Jojoba. I've used both the Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum and have found that these products are soothing and replenishing to my skin. What I also love about these two products is the fact that they are Australian made from Australian natural plant extracts. To read more about these two products see my blog post here

The Jojoba Company- ''Skin protection comes naturally with The Jojoba Company’s new Anti-aging Day Cream with SPF15. Specially designed to protect, moisturise and nourish your skin through the warmer months, this 96% natural moisturiser also provides a broad spectrum SPF15 barrier to protect skin against harmful UVA/UVB rays without clogging pores.''

A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to trial The Jojoba Company's first ever skincare product containing SPF, Anti-Aging Day Cream SPF15. Anti-aging day cream helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and  is enriched with a plethora of natural botanical ingredients. Key ingredients include: Australian Jojoba, natural plant oils and extracts, anti-oxidants, green tea and vitamin E. The concoction of these ingredients formulated within anti-aging day cream ensures the skin is luxuriously moisturised, hydrated and supple. I've been using this Anti-aging day cream after applying Pure Australian Golden Jojoba and Jojoba Absolute Serum to my skin in the morning.

I like the fact that Anti-aging day cream SPF15 creates a skin barrier to protect the skin from UVA/UVB rays and prolong the ageing of skin. Here in Queensland the sun shines high and bright throughout the year to the point where spring doesn't exists, so I always opt for day creams which contain SPF. This day cream contains SPF15, though I would have preferred if the SPF was higher, say SPF30.

Anti-aging day cream comes in a very convenient soft silicon-like squeezable tube which feels like the supple and soft texture of skin we all desire. I really like the material of the packaging as it's slip-free and different! Upon first twisting open the cap, the tube had a foil-seal. This ensures that the cream is fresh once received. The cream has an expiry until 2013 (as it contains SPF), so that's plenty of time for me to use up this product and enjoy the benefits of the ingredients formulated in the cream.

The cream is rich yet lightweight and not thick at all. Despite the relatively thin consistency, I found it difficult to evenly spread this rich cream across my face. Hence, applying the cream using gentle circular motions took a little longer than with other creams to fully penetrate into the skin. The cream felt very hydrating and the scent was very subtle. I'm not a fan of highly scented products, so it's a great thing that this day cream has a subtle scent.

My skin looked relatively shiny after application and I thought that this cream is still in the process of penetrating through my skin. However, after a few minutes my T-zone still looked slightly shiny. I would assume the application of Anti-aging day cream is not entirely suitable with my combination/oily skin type as its purpose does not control oil, which is one of my skin concerns. I enjoy the benefits of vitamin E and natural plant oils/extracts which leaves me skin feeling nourished, hydrated and protected from the sun rays, therefore, it's best for me to only apply this day cream to my cheeks and neck before stepping outdoors.

The Jojoba Company products do not contain parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, petrochemicals, phthalates, harmful chemicals or detergents.

The Jojoba Company Anti-Aging Day Cream SPF 15 was launched recently and costs A$29.95 for a 40 mL tube. For more information please visit The Jojoba Company website here.
***NB: I've just been told that the reason why Anti-aging day cream took a little while to penetrate the skin is that it contains no parabens or anything artificial to help improve the cream to sink in fast. ***

Have you experienced any products from The Jojoba Company?
What are your thoughts on Pure Australian Golden Jojoba?
