Review: Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant

I am a huge lover of exfoliants (as you may have noticed!) and when I came across Kosmea's Daily Facial Exfoliant, that I received in the January Glossybox, I was totally astonished as to how unique this exfoliant is! I haven't used Kosmea products in the past, so I'm glad I came across this exfoliant and now know a little more about the brand.

Kosmea is an Australian skin care brand which delivers a wide range of natural skin care products made from plant, flower and herbal extracts from Australia and around the world. The Kosmea Organic Certified Rose Hip Oil has been noted to be quite popular and I am yet to try it out myself.

Kosmea products are housed in recyclable packaging and are free from petrochemicals, articifial colours, mineral oils, artifical fragrances, sodium lauryl sulphate, animal ingredients and they do not test on animals.

I've been using the Daily Facial Exfoliant these last few days and I love how gentle and soothing this product is to my skin. This exfoliant can be used on a daily basis as the texture is gentle and kind to the skin.

There are two ways to use this exfoliant: 1. as a cleanser and just massage a small amount onto the skin and rinse or 2. as a detoxifying mask treatment and leave the exfoliant on your skin for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off. I've been using the second method as I like to enjoy the benefits of the core ingredients chamomile flowers, rose hip, kaolin clay and rice flour which helps to soothe, exfoliate and draw out skin impurities. My skin feels refreshed, soothed and clean and I'm really happy with the results.

The scent is hardly noticeable and the texture doesn't look so appealing, though this doesn't really bother me. You can actually see the crushed rose hip and chamomile flowers in this exfoliant.

The price tag is little pricey, though this is what you expect for natural skin care products which help to improve the look and feel of your skin. I'm impressed with this exfoliant and I'm really interested to explore other products from Kosmea. They do stock a decent range of miniatures starting from $9.95, which I find is a great way to see if the product suits my skin.

Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant retails for $39.95 for 125g and is available at David Jones Departments in Australia and www.kosmea.com.au.

Have you tried Kosmea products before? Which products would you reccomend? What do you think of nautral skin care products?

January Glossybox Celebrates Australia Day

Glossybox has become one of my favourite beauty sampling boxes, alongside Bellabox, because I adore the high end brands associated with them (Sally Hansen, Shu Uemura, Bobbi Brown and Jurlique just to name a few). Some beauty samples may be deluxe sized and some may be full size. Sometimes the samples may be too small to trial and the reason for such a small amount of product given is that high end products are quite expensive and a deluxe sample would still be worth quite a lot.

One of the best features of Glossybox compared to all the other sample boxes I've seen (Bellabox, Lusthavit, ilovethisbox and Beauty Basket) is the super cute pink packaging! The contents come in a sturdy signature pink Glossybox box and the contents are wrapped neatly in black tissue paper and a cute pink ribbon. I now have three Glossyboxes which are currently being used as an organiser to store my skincare and cosmetics. The Glossybox boxes are also great for gift giving!

My January Glossybox arrived in the nick of time!

If you do not want to know what is in the January Glossybox, please do not read on!

January Glossybox
Contents in the January Glossybox
Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant
Sample size 20g worth $6.40 (full size 125g rrpA$39.95)
Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser
Sample size 30ml worth 60 cents (full size 250ml rrpA$5.40, 400ml rrpA$7.99)
Sheer Cover Lipgloss and Nourishing Moisturiser
Full size lipgloss 2.5g rrpA$19.95 and
sample size moisturiser 30ml worth $15 (full size 60ml rrpA$29.95)
Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eye Liner
Full size 2g rrpA$29.95
Australia Day Tattoos
Gift Card for online fashion label The Iconic

January GlossyBox Total worth ~$72

I like the idea of Glossybox having the theme of the January box as 'Australia Day' since Australia Day is just around the corner. The card with the list of products was printed in green and gold rather than the signature brown and pink colours.

The products I received didn't really impress me at all as the only products I liked were the Kosmea Daily Exfoliant and Nivea body moisturiser. The Mirenesse eye liner is a blue shade and unfortunately that's not a shade I would wear. I've never heard of nor tried the Sheer Cover line before, so I'll see how the lipgloss and mosituriser goes during the weekend. The $25 gift card to shop at The Iconic was something different, though I don't think I will end up using this up. The Australia Day tattoos look pretty fun so I'll definitely have these on next Thursday! Overall, the January Glossybox was underwhelming compared to the previous boxes I have received.

The word around the block is that the February box will be extra special due to February being the month for Valentine's Day. I saw a sneak peak via the Glossybox newsletter and apparently the February Glossybox could come in a hot pink box!

I was thinking of unsubscribing to Glossybox, but I think I'll hold out until I see what's in the February Glossybox.

January BellaBox: Say 'Hello!' To New Naturals!

I have subscribed to two beauty sampling services and they are BellaBox and GlossyBox. The first box I received this year is from BellaBox! The January BellaBox is the 5th box in the running and I've been very satisfied with the contents I have received thus far.

The theme of this month's BellaBox is all about natural and organic products: ''Out With The Old. In With The New Naturals'. Oh I love the sound of that!

Here is a look at the contents in my January BellaBox:

January BellaBox
Sparoma Organic Roll On Pulse Point Aroma in Lemon Myrtle

full size 15ml rrpA$19.95
Pangea Organics Lip Balm in Egyptian Fennel with Grapefruit & Sweet Orange

full size 7g rrpA$17.95
J.Del Pozo “Halloween Kiss” and “Halloween Kiss Sexy” EDT
two sample size vials ~1.2ml ea worth ~$0.70c ea (full size 100ml rrpA$59)

Violent Lips in Pink Cheetah

 1 Appliqué worth $5 (rrpA$14.95/pkt 3)

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
sample size 5.7 g worth $1.20 (full size 70g rrpA$14.95)

Herban Essentials Lemon Towlette
1 pkt worth ~90c (rrpA$17.50/pkt 20)

Qi Tea Detox  and Ginkgo

Soleo Sunscreen
two 3g satchets worth ~$1.90 (full size 80g rrpA$24.95)
January BellaBox Total Worth: ~$48

I have not come across any of these brands before so it's a great way to expand my knowledge on nautral products. I received so many satchet samples in the January BellaBox and to be honest I'm not so pleased about these one time use sample satchets and these would not help me determine if the product suits my skin. Despite this, I still very happy to receive a great selection of natural and organic products.

Overall, the January BellaBox was slightly below par for my rating due to the small satchets received. I like the citric scents from the Sparoma Roll On and Pangea Organics Lip Balm and I will be leaving these two products in my everyday handbag. As for the Violent Lips Pink Cheetah lip tattoo... I think it looks HOT! But! I just don't see myself wearing this! I've heard about this lip tattoo concept before and never thought I would own one! I'm just surprised that I've got my hands on one of them now!

Did you subscribe to BellaBox?
Which product is you most favourite?
Did you receive a Violent Lip tattoo in your box? Which pattern did you get?

Liebster Blog Award

The last few weeks has been very busy for me and to my surprise, I've been nominated for a Liebster Award by three of my lovely beauty bloggers! A HUGE thank you to thebeautebuzz, Mandy and Melmeko who nominated me! I really appreciate the recognition xx

When I received The Liebster Award I had no idea which kind of award I was nominated for...until now! Well, The Liebster Award is given out from bloggers who have received The Liebster Award from other bloggers. The idea of rewarding other bloggers The Liebster Award is to provide recognition for bloggers who have less than 200 readers as a way to spread the word and bring attention to these brilliant blogs  :)

Definition of the word 'Liebster'
"Liebster" is a German word which means dearest or beloved, but it can also mean favourite.

The following are rules for the bloggers I mention in this post below:
1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal the five blogs you have chosen and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award onto your blog.
4. Request that people you have sent the award to forward it on to their favourite bloggers.

There are so many wonderful blogs I have come across and if I had the opportunity to award all of them then I would in a heart beat! Rules are rules and I must only choose five! The five bloggers I am passing The Liebster Award on to are:
Miss Sensuous - I absolutely love reading her reviews on nautral and organic products and following her lovely dessert and main meal recipes.
Indulgent Beauty Reviews - Her Shu Uemura collection is mesmerising! As you may know I am a huge lover of makeup palettes and I came across Nadia's blog when searching for swatches from Shu Uemura colour palettes. Her posts are fun and easy to read and I love that she publishes her posts frequently.

cclarebear - I love reading a shared blog as it's fun to see who's post will be published next, either Clare or Catherine. I enjoy reading Clare and Catherine's blog as their product reviews are brilliant and their photos look great! I'm always looking for my wish list after reading their product reviews, FOTDs and hauls!
All The Pretty Faces - Her FOTD posts are truly inspirational and I am amazed at her artistic skills!

Beauty In The Sky - I enjoy reading her posts about the ABBW (Australian Beauty Bloggers Weekend) and love seeing her FOTDs and beauty hauls!

Congratulations ladies for being nominated! Look forward to reading your posts in the near future!!

My Christmas Edition Glossybox Australia

I was expecting my Christmas Glossybox after coming back from interstate and look what arrived at my doorstep...

December Glossybox

It's the December Glossybox with the contents all wrapped up so delicately and looking gorgeous! This is my second Glossybox (to see my November Glossybox click here) and I'm so excited about the products I received!

Contents in the December Glossybox

Here is a list of the products I received in the December Glossybox:

Clinique Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturiser
sample 7ml worth $12.60 (full size 50ml rrpA$90)
John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray
sample 29ml worth $5 (full size 103ml rrpA$17.99)
Calvin Klein Forbidden Euphoria Fragrance
sample ~1ml worth ~$2, (rrpA$60 for 30ml, $90 for 50ml, $120 for 100ml)
Gorgeous Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Scarlette
full size rrpA$25
Tigi Haircare Manipulator by Bed Head
full size 57ml rrpA$23.95

December Glossybox Total worth ~$69

All in all, the contents I received in the December Glossybox well exeeded the subscription fee of $14.95. I'm happy that I received a Gorgeous cosmetics lip liner as I've been lemming for a crimson red lip liner since a few weeks ago. Clinique moisturisers are kind to my skin and I'm excited to try the Turnaround Overnight Radiance moisturiser. I've got so many hair products at home that it takes forever to finish it! The Tigi Bed Head Manipulator looks interesting so I'll probably try it out soon to see if it suits the rainy weather here in Brisbane. I also like the CK purse spray vial as I find these handy for my handbag. The fruity floral scent isn't too overpowering and there are notes of raspberry, peach blossom, jasmine and musk just to name a few.

I was quite surprised to receive a hair product for people with blonde hair as I didn't mention that I have blonde hair in my beauty profile. So, it doesn't seem like Glossybox has yet to provide members with tailored boxes. I posed this small issue to Glossybox customer service and received a reply the same day. I was told that the beauty profile I provided in my Glossybox account will be used to customise the boxes in future. I was also told that a replacement product has been sent to me to make up for the Sheer Blonde product. This is the first time I had to approach customer service and so far I'm satisfied with their prompt reply and understanding.

From what I have heard, there has been an influx of complaints regarding the Sheer Blonde product as most people received this product in their box and they do not have blonde hair. Despite only one product in my box was obviously not suitable for me, I am still pleased about the remaining full size and deluxe sized products I received.

~
**update**
I received my replacement product from Glossybox and here it is!

Happy New Year Everyone!!
Apologies that I've been MIA recently. I have clearly not posted here in quite awhile as I was living intersate these last few weeks to celebrate the Christmas and New Year's holiday with family and friends. It was great to see everyone down in Melbourne and thankfully the weather was beautiful the entire time I was there. One of the many highlights during my trip were the delectable chocolate desserts at Koko Black and Max Brenners and Asian exotic ice-cream at Passion Flower in Melbourne.

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and wish you all the best in 2012!

A huge thank you to all my wonderful readers for supporting my blog and welcoming me into the bloggersphere!
