Ultraceuticals Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum

I'm no stranger to Ultraceutical skin care products as the formulations, creams and serums produced by Ultraceuticals are compatible with my combination skin type. The brand Ultraceuticals was established in 1998 and is Australian made and owned thanks to the ingenious group of chemists who were lead by founder and CEO of Ultraceuticals, Dr Geoffrey Heber.  Ultraceutical skin care products are made from superior ingredients which aim to reduce and prevent major skin concerns, such as pigmentation, acne and ageing. 

Today I have with me one of Ultraceutical's most popular skin care treatments known as Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum, which helps to plump and refine skin. The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum is also available in the Mild and Concentrate variants which contain moderate and the highest level of Ultra-RETI long-life pure retinol microparticles, respectively, which helps to support skin collagen and elastin production. Retinol is also known as Vitamin A or Retin A and is also known to aid in the reversal of DNA damage. I have with me the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum which lies between the Mild and Concentrate variant and contains a high level of Ultra-RETI which aims to significantly plump and refine skin.

The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum not only features pure retinol as the star ingredient, but also peptides, Vitamin C and the enzyme bromelain which all work together to improve skin clarity, texture, hyperpigmentation and blemishes. The serum contains a complex mixture of calming ingredients, so this serum is suitable for all skin types. 

It is strongly recommended that you introduce this serum gradually into the skin before using it as a daily treatment, since this powerful concoction becomes effective after your skin adapts to the concentration level of these star ingredients.

I've been trialling the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum for almost 10 weeks and my skin has only reacted positively since the first application. I initially used this serum 2-3 times per week for a whole month, before I incorporated this serum into my skin care regime as a daily treatment. The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum has an expiry of 6 months after the first use, so a full sized bottle containing 30ml of product is sufficient to ensure the treatment will last through the duration of it's shelf life. Just a small pearl-sized amount of the opaque off-white/pale yellow serum or one full pump of the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum is sufficient to apply across the face and neck. 

The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum does have quite a subtle scent which is neither pleasant nor unpleasant. Thankfully the scent dissipates after a short while. The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum penetrates the skin quite effectively and immediately hydrates and nourishes the skin. My skin appears matte and there were no greasy films or residues after gently pressing the serum into my skin. Generally, I would gently press skin care products onto my skin to encourage penetration of the product and to also avoid stretching the delicate skin to maintain it's youthful appearance.

The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum feels lovely on my skin and leaves my skin feeling almost as silky and soft like a baby's bottom! The hydration this serum provides is adequate, so despite this, it is important to always moisturise the skin after applying serum. I've used different moisturisers in conjunction with this serum and my skin did not feel irritated at all. Instead, my skin appears to look brighter, more plump and well hydrated. Small skin blemishes around my chin area seems to slowly disappear and the condition of my skin is looking a lot more healthy and plump! I really enjoyed using the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum and incorporating this serum into my skin care regime as it not only helped to improve the texture and appearance of my skin, but it also provided my skin with vitamin A and C, and emzymes to help regulate the production of my skins collagen and elastin.

NEW Ultraceuticals SunActive SPF50+ Face Cream

Protecting the skin is one of the utmost important factors to prolong the aging of skin and ensure beautiful healthy looking skin. One of the newest face sunscreens I have come across is the new Ultraceuticals SunActive SPF50+ Face Cream (A$45/60ml), which contains the highest SPF that I have ever used! Not only does this face cream provide ultra protection to shield the skin against the harmful sun rays but it also provides antioxidants and Vitamins E and C to nourish the skin. While this face cream simultaneously protects and nourishes the skin, there's no need to apply a moisturiser. 

The formula is relatively thick in consistency, so it's best to use a foundation brush to gently and evenly apply a small amount across the face. Using my fingers sort of tugs my skin due to the thick consistency, so it's important to use an appropriate technique for application. Although thick in consistency, the formula is not greasy and absorbs amazingly quick into the skin, thereby, leaving no wastage of time waiting for the formula to penetrate the skin. The absorption of the formula leaves no residues or traces of white marks on the face, plus it doesn't clog my pores. I love the fact that the formula leaves a lovely velvety finish, perfect for applying foundation and makeup afterwards!

Ultraceuticals Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF30+ (Hydrating)

This summer, Ultraceuticals has got you covered and protected with their Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser range. Ultraceuticals Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF30+ (A$65/100ml) is available in three variants to cater for your skin concern: Hydrating (dry/normal skin), Mattifying (oily/normal skin) and Sheer Tint (all skin types). My skin is oily/normal and the Hydrating variant has quickly become my staple daytime moisturiser! I love skin care products which which are formulated with SPF30+ as I always feel rest assured that these formulas will provide my skin with a protective barrier so that I could have fun under the sun! Ultraceuticals Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser (Hydrating) is a lovely opaque white lightweight moisturiser which absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any residues. The non-whitening formula protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays to decelerate the aging of skin. The formula is a concoction of Shea Butter, Panthenol and Nicotinamide which helps to support the skin barrier, whilst adequately maintaining the natural hydration of skin. I usually use a small pea sized amount to cover my face and then proceed with applying my makeup. My skin feels well hydrated during the day and doesn't leave my skin appearing greasy nor oily. If you have dry/normal skin, this moisturiser would be right up your alley!

Ultraceuticals Ultra Brightening Serum

Ultraceuticals Ultra Brightening Serum (A$135/30ml) is one of Ultraceuticals most talked about formulations that aims to reduce mild to advanced hyperpigmentation (age spots, discolouration and uneven skin tone) to boost the clarity and luminosity of the complexion. The Ultra Brightening Serum is a potent concoction of brightening agents, pigment blockers and exfoliants including: Artocarpus Lakoocha and Bearberry Extracts to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and AHAs and BHA to clarify and exfoliate the skin. The formula also contains Lactic, Citric and Salicylic acid to increase skin turnover, which helps to shed pigmentation across the surface layers of skin.

I've been trialling this serum for four weeks and due to the potency of this serum, I was advised to apply the serum once per day for about 1 week and then continue with a twice daily application from there onwards. The scent of this powerful serum is quite strong and slightly unpleasant for my sensitive nose, however, it does disappear after a couple of minutes. The pump is really convenient as one full pump dispenses about a 5 cent sized amount, which is sufficient to apply on my face. The serum has quite a thin consistency, so the best method to apply this serum is to gently dab and press the serum all over the face. Upon application, the serum absorbed into my skin quickly and my skin experienced a relaxing cooling sensation. I didn't notice any major changes to my skin texture, in terms of pigmentation and uneven skin tone, however I did notice that my complexion was beginning to appear brighter and clearer after about the 3 week mark. Thankfully, the formula, although quite potent, did not irritate my sensitive skin. I was quite hesitant to continue use of the Ultra brightening Serum due to its potency, though building up the application from applying once daily to twice daily helped my skin to adapt to the brightening agents. Ultra Brightening Serum is an effective formula for my skin and it's something my skin can't get enough of!

Ultraceuticals Mattifying Magic Christmas Gift Set

I was recently gifted the Mattifying Magic Christmas Pack (A$99, valued at A$148) to trial and I've been loving every single product in this amazing pack! The contents of this pack include the Ultra Balancing Cleansing Gel (200ml), Ultra Hydrating Lotion (75ml) and Even Skintone Serum Mild (10ml).

Ultraceuticals Gentle Cleansing Gel makes my skin feel beautifully clean and fresh without stripping the natural oils of my skin. The silky smooth and slightly runny consistency of this pearlescent gel thoroughly removes traces of makeup and dirt and the scent reminds me of toffee lollies! The formula is packed full with antioxidants and natural ingredients including coconut oil, vitamin E and green tea, which all help to nourish and hydrate the skin. I love this concoction as I'm always on the lookout for ingredients in skin care products which help to improve skin texture and appearance. I have sensitive skin and I'm quite impressed that this Gentle Cleansing Gel was completely compatible with my skin type!

Even Skintone Serum Mild is quite a potent yet effective serum which helps to reduce the look of discoloration and pigmentation for a smoother, brighter and clarified complexion.  Initially, I only used this serum once every 2-3 days and after about 2 weeks I began using this once daily before hitting the hay. The transparent and thin consistency of this lightweight serum absorbs relatively quickly into my skin and it leaves a nice cooling sensation. The best way to apply this serum is to dispense a pearl-sized amount to my fingertips and gently press the serum onto the skin. The scent is quite strong for my sensitive nose, though thankfully the scent does dissipate after a short while. While this serum feels lovely on my skin, the formula didn't hydrate my skin as well as I expected. Applying a hydrating moisturiser is a must. My sensitive skin did not react negatively to this serum at all, so I was uber happy to continue trialling this serum. After about 3-4 weeks, I was feeling super pleased as my skin actually looked slightly brighter and clarified - perfect for this coming summer season!!

Ultraceuticals Ultra Hydrating Lotion is a super hydrating lotion which soothes, cools and hydrates my skin wonderfully well! The consistency of this lotion is very runny, so dispensing this product from a tube was a little uneasy as I would sometimes over-dispense! You really only need a 10 cent sized amount to moisturise all over the face. This lightweight lotion feels amazing on my skin as it just glides luxuriously against my skin and instantly hydrates my skin.  The formula absorbs quickly and leaves a nice matte finish. My skin looks and feels uber soft and smooth! I absolutely love how effective this Ultra Hydrating Lotion is! If you have sensitive/oily skin types, I would highly recommend this moisturiser!

NEW Ultraceuticals Ultra CC Cream and Powder

First the BB (blemish/beauty balm) cream and now the CC (complete correction) cream... I wonder what's next? Actually, I'm not too curious at the moment as the hype on BB creams has still caught my interest, because I really love some of the BB cream formulas out there (namely, Bobbi Brown and Clarins BB creams). As for CC creams I've finally delved into this new craze...

CC creams are typically used as either a primer or foundation, depending on coverage and consistency, and aims to provide skin benefits such as sun protection, prevent blemishes, decelerate the aging process of skin, hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of redness and sallow skin.

The latest CC cream to launch is by Australian skin care brand Ultraceuticals! The Ultraceuticals Complete Correction range includes not only available as a cream formulation but also available as a powder!

 

Ultraceuticals CC Cream Mineral Tint SPF 30 (A$59/50ml) is available in 3 shades (Light, Medium and Deep) and Ultraceuticals CC Powder Pure Mineral Foundation (A$69/12g) is available in 5 shades. It's really great to see a broader range of shades available for these two products to suit most skin tones!

Ultraceuticals CC Cream Mineral Tint SPF 30 provides excellent sun protection and the smooth and relatively thick consistency of the formula has quite a sweet scent, just like those gummy cola bottles that I used to eat back in primary school! The scent wasn't too overpowering, though the scent does disappears after a short period of time. I love that this CC cream is housed in a soft plastic tube that sits on it's cap, that way the majority of product will always remain at the tip of the tube. 

The formula of this CC cream can take the place of liquid foundation as the coverage is not so much of a tint but more of a medium coverage formula that is buildable to achieve full coverage with a semi-matte finish. The creamy formulation glides nicely and adheres to my skin very well, however, using a foundation brush lead to streaking. This formula is best applied using a stippling brush. Blending is so important when applying this CC cream, so ensure you take in some time to carefully and evenly apply across your face. 

Swatches of the Shade 'Light' in the photos below show how natural, smooth and even the finish appears on my arm. This CC cream contains the goodness of Vitamins B5 and B3 as well as Hyaluronic acid to soften, plump and nourish the skin. My skin felt beautifully hydrated and radiant and I didn't even need to use a concealer to minimise the appearance of dark circles, redness and minor blemishes! The formula lasted a good 4 hours during the day until my T-zone started to become oily, so a light dusting of powder and blotting paper are my touch up products to banish the shine. 

 

Ultraceuticals CC Powder Pure Mineral Foundation is a triple-milled pure mineral powder foundation infused with Microelastin®, Artocarpus Extract and Vitamins B3, C & E, and Bisabolol. The mixture of these ingredients addresses signs of aging skin and helps to smooth, brighten and even skin tone. To preserve the goodness of these ingredients, this powder is housed in a robust airtight compact where the lid needs to be twisted either left or right to open/close. Included in this compact is a convenient large in-built mirror and an applicator.

Although the powder is triple-milled, I found that the powder easily breaks away when sweeping the applicator into the compact. So to avoid excess loose powder, I've had to use a light hand and gently sweep the powder. The applicator brush feels nice and soft, very easy to handle and to apply. The powder applies on evenly and smoothly, however, I find that this powder made my skin appear slightly cakey. Once again, I've resorted to using either my stippling brush or a large fluffy powder brush to apply this powder. That way, the effect of heavy makeup can be eliminated and my skin looks a lot more natural compared to using the applicator provided. This powder does add a nice finishing touch to my complexion, leaving it look fresh, radiant and awake!
