ELES Cosmetics Beauty Trend: The Big Smoke

ELES Cosmetics is an Australian beauty brand that has captured my heart since I was first introduced to this brand in 2012. I love the quality and results that ELES Cosmetics face, eye and cheek products deliver! I also love how ELES Cosmetics welcomes a new beauty trend each season, featuring a set collection of new and favourite ELES Cosmetics products. The current beauty trend by ELES Cosmetics is called 'The Big Smoke', a new winter look for 2014 that focuses on soft, sultry and muted effects for a city chic look! For additional details on the products featured in the ELES Cosmetics The Big Smoke look, please click here.

Today I will be featuring two of the products from 'The Big Smoke' beauty trend: the Mineral Matte Blush in Adobe (A$45.00/3.4g) and BrowBlender in Dark Taupe (A$42/1.19g).

There are two blush collections by ELES Cosmetics and these are the Mineral Blush (A$39.50/4g) and Mineral Matte Blush (featured in this post). I've explored the ELES Cosmetics Mineral Blush collection in the shades Rose Marble (plum/rose shade) and Mixed Berries (rosey pink shade) (reviewed here) and I absolutely adore the high pigmentation these blushes offer to achieve excellent staying power! On the other hand, the Mineral Matte Blush in Adobe allows for a beautiful soft natural glow to the complexion whilst providing dimension to the face.

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Matte Blush is infused with pearlescent matte pigments and is available in two shades: #01 Adobe and #02 Flirt. The shade Adobe is a gorgeous light coral/nude shade that suits light to medium skin tones. Using a duo fibre brush or a blush brush, I found that it was very easy to pick up sufficient amount of product to leave a soft matte and natural look to the cheeks.

To apply, simple sweep the brush over the cheeks and then blend along the cheekbones towards the temple region. The matte pigments are jet milled to help blend the Mineral Matte Blush and achieve a beautiful velvety matte glow to the complexion. I love the soft natural look Adobe appears and it really does make a great contouring product for a simple and natural everyday look during the winter season.

Defined, well-structured and well-groomed brows are the trend in beauty these days for a polished look! The ELES Cosmetics BrowBlender is a handy dual ended pencil that helps you to shape, contour, define and fill-in brows. The BrowBlender has a brow pencil on one and a spoolie tip on the other end. There are three shades available: #01 Blonde, #02 Soft Taupe and #04 Dark Taupe. You could use this brow pencil dry for a soft focus effect or wet for a more intense and defined brows. I prefer using this BrowBlender dry as this BrowBlender is very pigmented and I prefer the look of soft shaded brows.

The shade Dark Taupe is perfect for those who have dark brows that need definition and shading. I love how easy it was to define my brows to add emphasis to the arch and tail of my brows. The BrowBlender blends in beautifully and my brows look very natural. It was very easy to perfect my brows in a few simple and easy steps:

1. Outline the upper and lower border of the brow with a light hand
2. Neatly extend the the trail to structure and define the brow
3. Carefully fill-in the brows using short feathered strokes
4. Use an angled brow brush to diffuse the strokes and achieve well-groomed brows

The BrowBlender in the shade Dark Taupe is quite pigmented, so it is important to use a soft hand to define and shade. The BrowBlender does not smudge nor fade easily, so there is no need to touch up during the day! For a winter beauty look, the BrowBlender is a must-have to groom and define the brows!

ELES Cosmetics are hypoallergenic, free of nasty chemicals, oil-free, dye-free, talc-free and fragrance-free.

NEW ELES Cosmetics Berry Crush Collection

ELES Cosmetics is an Australian mineral makeup brand and their products are formulated using the finest micronised minerals, antioxidants and nutrients (including Ginseng, Aloe and Chamomile) to help protect, correct and nourish skin. ELES Cosmetic products are formulated to 'naturally relax, refresh and rejuvenate the skin' and to 'complement today's modern woman'. I love cosmetic brands who take into consideration the natural beauty of skin and the importance of protecting skin from premature aging. ELES Cosmetics are free from nasty chemicals and pore-clogging ingredients to ensure the skin can breathe naturally while wearing a veil of cosmetics.

ELES Cosmetics Berry Brush Collection
The latest collection to arrive at ELES Cosmetics is the Berry Crush Collection (click here to view the entire Berry Crush Collection) to complement the Autumn season with bronze hues and accents of berry shades! I was recently sent some lovely eye and cheek makeup products from the ELES Berry Crush Collection to trial and these included the following: ELES Brow Sculpt, ELES Powder Liner Pencil in Copper and ELES Mineral Blush in Mixed Berries.

ELES Cosmetics Brow Sculpt in Brunette
The ELES Brow Sculpt (A$55/1.4g) is available in 3 shades (Blonde, Auburn and Brunette) and features a brow shadow (on the left) and brow sculpt wax (on the right) to allow you to fill in and set your brows for flawless, defined and perfectly shaped brows. It is best to use a small angled brush to gentle fill in the brows, from the centre outwards, followed by a thin coating of wax to set and define the shape of the brows. The high pigmentation of the shadow and wax means that you need to use a light hand before building up the intensity, just to avoid over-doing your brows. I always aim for a natural look to my brows, so it is important to carefully and gently fill-in the brows. I love this shade in Brunette as it does work well to provide natural looking brows and helps to cover any imperfections. This is a staple product in my beauty bag and I cannot leave the house without using it to perfect the shape and colour of my brows!

ELES Powder Liner Pencil (A$43.25) is available in 4 shades (Tornado, Copper, Fog and Twilight), where the shade Copper is the latest addition to this range. This Powder Liner Pencil applies on like a dream as the pencil feels as a soft as applying powder and glides on effortlessly without pulling or tugging the skin, thanks to the ingredient Candelilla Wax which allows soft and supple application. I've been using the shade Copper as an eye liner to line the edge of my eye lid to define the eyes whilst providing a soft powdery metallic finish. The shade doesn't smudge easily and stays put during the day. The formula of this Powder Liner Pencil contains Titanium Dioxide, which is a natural mineral for protection and longevity. This Powder Liner Pencil is a dual ended eye liner pencil, so on the other end there is a smudger which you could use to achieve a soft and sultry look to the eyes.

ELES Mineral Blush (A$39.50/4g) is an amazingly highly pigmented blush that I first encounted 2 years ago when the only shade in the line was Rose Marble (reviewed here). I am thankful that my prayers have been answered, because there are now three shades (Rose Marble, Coral Sun and Mixed Berries) of available, Mixed Berries being the latest shade to the line! Mixed Berries is a gorgeous plum/rose shade which suits warm skin tones the best. I have fair skin, so this shade works best when I use a light hand to achieve a natural flush of plum to my cheeks. The satin-like finish is very naturally looking and makes my complexion look healthy and glow-y! This mineral blusher contains Vitamins A, E and C to condition and nourish the skin. What's not to love about this gorgeous blusher!!??

If you are a virgin to ELES Cosmetics products I would highly recommend you check out their products online (here). ELES Cosmetics products are so gentle to the skin and their range of shades are quite beautiful. The site offers free shipping, so you only pay for the products you buy!

ELES Cosmetics '60s Vibe Beauty Trend for Eyes - Spring 2013

I love the '60s-esque beauty look for dramatically lined and sexy feline eyes! As part of their '60s Vibe spring beauty trend for eyes, Aussie beauty brand ELES Cosmetics recently introduced the new ELES Signature Shadow Quad in Debutante and ELES Dimensional Cake Liner in Plum Crazy. That's right ladies, this spring beauty trend is all about smoky, bold and pretty purple hues! This look would be perfect for the coming Spring Racing festivities!

ELES Cosmetics Signature Shadow Quad in Debutante and Dimensional Cake Liner in Plum Crazy.

ELES Cosmetics Signature Shadow Quad in Debutante
The luxuriously silky pearlescent eye shadow colours in the ELES Signature Shadow Quad are all you need to create a beautiful and bold smoky eye look! The eye colour palette in Debutante is the latest of the range of eye-catching ELES Signature Shadow Quads. Debutante includes a pale pink, dusky purple, rich plum/violet and a satin taupe. These shades are not too shimmery and lean more towards a soft pearlescent and satin finish. The pale pink shade can be applied all over the eye lid and/or as a highlighter under the brow bone or on the inner corner of the eyes. The dusky purple shade can be used along the crease or simply on the lid. The rich plum/violet is the darkest shade that is used to line the eyes and to create a 'v' on the outer lower lash-line. The satin taupe is used to contrast and juxtapose the dusky purple and rich plum/violet to create a soft smoky eye effect.

Swatches of ELES Cosmetics Signature Shadow Quad in Debutante.

The micro-mineral eye shadow powders are beautiful and innovative, being infused with Vitamins A, C and E to condition and protect the delicate eye area. These eye shadows are also hypoallergenic, oil-free, dye-free, talc-free and fragrance-free. ELES micro-mineral eye shadows are pigmented, finely-milled and can be applied on wet for a dramatic and intense night time look or dry for a subtle and soft day time look. I love how easy it is to simply swipe my eye brush in the palette and apply a smooth thin veil of colour to my eye lids. There was very minimal fall-out when applied using a dry brush and the fantastic thing about this palette is the mesmerising purple hues which compliment one another very well. The shadows stay put very well when a eye primer was used and also when applied wet.

ELES Cosmetics Dimensional Cake Liner in Plum Crazy

The dual colour ELES Dimensional Cake Liner includes a matte and shimmery shade to accomplish definition and drama for big and bold eyes! The shade Plum Crazy includes a matte violet for definition and a royal purple with minuscule pink and silver shimmers add a dramatic twist! To achieve this bold purple eye look, it is best to use a wet liner brush to apply a the matte shade for a creamy effect. Gently press the brush in soft dabbing motions along the upper eyelash line, begin tapering to a thick line and at the outer corner of the eye, create a sexy cat flick. Now on to the shimmery shade, using the same brush (without re-wetting the brush), gently press over the matte shade to add some sparkle and enhance the eyes. The texture of the matte shade was incredibly soft and creamy which instantly adds definition to the eyes, whereas the shimmery shade adds the most subtle, yet gorgeous sparkles to dramatise the eyes. The shimmers are tiny, though you could still build-up the level of shimmer by re-applying.

ELES Signature Shadow Quad (A$99/6.8g) is available in the shades Nakeds, Nouveau Riche, Trends Maverick and Debutante. ELES Dimensional Cake Liner (A$39) is available in Plum Crazy, Chocolate Spice, Black Diamond and Blue Moon.

ELES Cosmetics is available online at www.elescosmetics.com.au.

NEW ELES Masquerade Nail Enamel Collection

ELES Mineral Makeup is an Australian beauty brand which house a range of face, eye, lip and nail products. ELES products are formulated from micronised minerals and natural ingredients (e.g. Vitamin A, E and C, Aloe, Chamomile and Ginseng, just to name a few) to protect the skin and nails while they perform just as well as professional beauty products out in the market. I absolutely adore the mineral makeup line by ELES and when I received news about their exciting new product launch, I was just completely mesmerised! ELES recently launched their amazing Masquerade Collection which consists of 12 beautiful nail enamel shades (A$20/15ml), which were inspired by the shimmer, glamour and elegance of 'Costumed-Carnivals and 15th Century Masquerade Balls'.
ELES Masquerade Collection
ELES nail enamels are kind to the nails as they are free from the big nasty three: Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP. The packaging of each nail enamel is square in shape, so you can align each shade side-by-side while saving space in your nail polish organiser/drawer. The labels are attached to the base of each bottle and as you can see, the labels don't seem to bind very well to the glass bottle. The list of ingredients are actually printed on the reverse side of each label, so I guess the labels were meant to be easily peeled away so that you could examine the list of ingredients.

The nail enamel applicator was very soft and application was very smooth and easy. Each shade has their own unique feature in terms of opacity and finish.

ELES Masquerade Collection
ELES Colombina Gold
Colombina Gold is a stunning shimmery light gold. Leaving my nails under natural sunlight radiates the beautiful gold and silver shimmers of this nail colour!

ELES Casanova Red
Casanova Red is a classic fire engine red with a high gloss finish. The formula of this red beauty was relatively thick and only 1 coat was required to achieve full opacity.

ELES Vivaldi Blue

Vivaldi Blue is a seafoam blue/green which reminds me of the luxurious Tiffany blue shade. After applying 2 coats, the finish appears slightly streaky with a subtle metallic sheen.

ELES Othello Orange
Othello Orange is a super vibrant orange which applies on relatively sheer. Two coats will suffice for good opacity.

ELES Phantom Black - Glossy coat before fully dried.
ELES Phantom Black - Matte finish after fully dried.
Phantom Black is one of my favourite shades! The formula appears glossy immediately after application, however, once the formula dries up, it leaves a gorgeous matte finish!

ELES Fuschia Fontana
Fuschia Fontana is a bright fuschia pink with a metallic lilac duochrome finish. The formula of Fuschia Fontana is quite sheer, so I ended up applying 2 coats.

ELES Nude Contessa
Nude Contessa is an elegant and classy nude shade. The formula of this shade was slightly more thick and creamy than the other shades, so only one coat was sufficient to give a smooth and even finish.

ELES Veronese Orchid

Veronese Orchid is a pretty lilac shade which would be perfect to wear during this spring season!

ELES Tintoretto Teal
Tintoretto Teal is a forrest green shade which requires two coats to achieve good opacity.

ELES Baroque Bronze
Baroque Bronze is a light copper shade with a streaky metallic finish. The streaky finish gives a pretty good resemblance to the surface of ancient copper bowls and cups.

ELES Carnival Copper
Carnival Copper is a vibrant dark orange, rather than copper.

ELES Purple Royale
Purple Royale is an intense purple shade with hints of blue. The formula of this shade was probably the most sheer nail enamel from the Masquerade collection and hence requires at least three coats to obtain full opacity.

The ELES Masquerade Collection has covered all four corners of the mysterious and extravagant masquerade theme. I love the fact that there were a variety of different shades in this collection and also a wide range of different finishes. I especially love the shades Phantom Black, Vivaldi Blue, Nude Contessa and Colombina Gold!

What do you think of ELES Masquerade Collection?
Which shades suit your fancy?

Autumn Beauty with ELES Mineral Makeup

The Autumn season in Australia is in full swing and what's more exciting than the stable humidity level at 70% and the continual change between the rain and sun are some ELES Mineral Makeup products that I've been trialing in the last few days!

ELES Mineral Makeup - 'Sourced from nature, fused with science... Skin life-sustaining minerals, the purest elements of the earth, are essential to the ELES line. Micronized minerals protect and correct skin without irritation. Minerals are a chemical free sun-block, naturally shielding the skin against damaging ultra-violet light. Their powerful light-reflective properties also make flaws and imperfections look less visible.'

ELES Mineral Makeup - 'Our skin-safe formulas contain no potential irritants, such as fragrance, oil, talc and dyes. Every formula is hypoallergenic and oil-free.'

The first time ELES Mineral Makeup was put into the spotlight of The Beauty of Red Roses was last year where I reviewed my cult favourites ELES Mineral Blush and ELES Mineral Sheer Tint here. Today I will be reviewing the ELES Pore Perfecting Face Primer (A$62/28g), ELES Gemstone Finishing Powder (Corrector) (A$101.50) and ELES Liquiliner in Anisette (Black) (A$48.25).

ELES Mineral Pore Perfecting Face Primer

ELES Mineral Pore Perfecting Face Primer is ideal for normal to combination skin types and the oil-free formula contains a Dermat Complex™which abdorbs oil and reduces the appearance of pores. The formula also contains Salicylic Acid to help prevent pores from clogging up as the primary role of Salicylic Acid is too prevent excess natural oil from the skin to interact with dead skin cells which form blackheads and whiteheads deep into the pores. The texture of Pore Perfecting Face Primer is smooth and the consistency is just about right to evenly distribute the product across the face. The ivory lightweight primer penetrates the skin quickly and minimises the appearance of pores. My skin feels very comfortable as the formula is virtuously weightless while leaving a perfectly smooth canvas for foundation. The oil control of this primer was excellent as the shine was kept at bay, however, after about 6+ hours I did notice that the shine started to show up along my T-zone.

ELES Gemstone Finishing Powder

ELES Gemstone Finishing Powder is available in three beautiful shades: Corrector, Bronzer and Blusher. Each compact contains four shimmering shades which impart a beautiful healthy glow when blended together. I have Corrector which has shimmering shades of pink, green, lilac and yellow which is used to help reduce the effect of Rosacea (redness). The powder contains White Sapphire Complex which helps to minimise skin imperfections. I personally did not notice significant improvement to the redness of my skin, however, I adore the healthy glow that this Gemstone Finishing Powder in Corrector produced. The fine shimmers and the shades of this Gemstone powder is quite versatile as it can be used to highlight and illuminate the skin complexion by blending all the shades carefully onto my cheeks and forehead or can even be used to highlight the nose, brow bone and inner corners of the eyes using a small brush to apply on the yellow/pink shades individually.

ELES Liquliner

ELES Liquliner in Anisette is a jet black liquid eyeliner that is a must-have in my makeup routine! The Liquiliner applicator is ultra slim-lined and flexible which glides smoothly along the entire lash line and helps to define, shape and accentuate the eyes with ease and precision! The Liquiliner dries and sets within 20 seconds of application and the fabulous part is that it does not smudge, smear or migrate as the day progresses. An interesting fact is that ELES Liquiliner contains a complex called Bio-Boost which is a 100% natural algae complex containing natural phytohormones and bio transformed Ginger Root which helps stimulate hair follicles, thus, improving the length and volume of lashes. So not only do I use ELES Liquiliner to define my eyes, but to also enhance the growth and nature of my lashes! Let's hope for longer lashes in due time!

Have you explored new beauty products for the autumn season? Have you tried ELES Mineral Makeup before?

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Blush and Mineral Sheer Tint

The cosmetics industry is growing fast and in the past couple of weeks I have come across a number of cosmetics brands (e.g. ELES Cosmetics and Pevonia just to name a few!) which I have discovered and love! Within the next few weeks, keep an eye out for the exciting new brands that will be in the spotlight of The Beauty of Red Roses blog!

Today I will be introducing ELES Cosmetics, a brand which I am so thankful to have been introduced to as I have discovered a couple of products from their line that has made me so impressed! ELES Cosmetics is an Australian mineral makeup brand created by Liane Scior- renowned aesthetician, make-up artist, business woman, educator and co-founder and director of elite spa and skincare brand, Pevonia Botanica Australia and Asia Pacific. She is indeed talented and widely knowledgeable in the cosmetics industry!

Liane Scior- ‘I created ELES Mineral Makeup because I’d searched in vain for right makeup line to enhance the great results of Pevonia skin care but I couldn’t find it. Don’t get me wrong, there are many great products out there but nothing that met the criteria I’d set which was pretty demanding.’

Liane Scior’s criteria included products that would be easy to use, products with invoke quality and great colour intensity and core ingredients which are beneficial to the skin in terms of anti-aging benefits. She loved the concept of mineral makeup as the advantages of mineral based makeup includes protecting the skin and smoothing out the appearance of fine lines due to the triple milled particles in her mineral makeup line which do not irritate the skin.

I have been using the Mineral Blush and Mineral Sheer Tint these last couple of weeks and I feel like I’m almost completely attached to these two products!

ELES Mineral Blush and Mineral Sheer Tint
ELES Mineral Blush in Rose Marble
ELES Mineral Blush in Rose Marble is a  rosey pink with a satin finish and is very pigmented. The blush is housed in a neat little chrome slimline compact with a flip top lid. The net weight of this blush is 4g and it is relatively smaller than all my other blushes in my collection. NARS blushes are 4.5-4.8g, Chanel blushes are 4-6g, MAC blushes are 6g and Dior blushes are ~ 7g.  The small packaging means that the diameter of the compact matches the diameter of my blush brush.  Normally I would lightly swirl my blush brush into the blush pan, however, due to this blush being so pigmented I tent to just lightly dab my blush to pick up the mineral powder onto the brush fibres.

Upon sweeping the blush onto my cheeks in a ‘C’ motion, the mineral power applies on incredibly smooth to give a beautiful matte rosey flush of colour. In my opinion, the shade is suitable for all skin tones. The colour is buildable, however, it’s not really necessary to build up the colour unless you are using a very light hand to apply this blush. The staying power is amazing and frankly speaking, this blush is the most long-lasting blush I have ever used! The longest period I have worn this blush on is about 10 hours and when I’m about to remove my makeup in the evening, I’m always impressed about the really good staying power.

The shade Rose Marble is not really a unique shade as there are many rosey pink blushes out there. To me, it’s the quality of this triple milled blush that has attracted me to use this on a daily basis. There is only one shade in the ELES Mineral Blush line and I really hope they come up with more shades in future.

Rose Marble- rosey pink blush (satin)

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Sheer Tint

ELES Mineral Sheer Tint is housed in a tube with a very convenient pump on one end. I am amazed of such a creation as I have not seen any beauty products contained in a tube with a pump on one end. I find this very convenient and I love how easy it is to dispense the product from this pump as this would avoid wastage.

The SPF factor of cosmetic products is an important factor for me as it helps to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays and decelerate the skins aging process. ELES Mineral Sheer Tint contains SPF 20, which is a relatively good SPF level for a tinted moisturiser. Most tinted moisturiser and liquid foundations I have come across contain either SPF 10 or 15.
Swatches of ELES Mineral Sheer Tint in Light.

The shade Light is perfect for my light skin tone, for reference my skin tone is matched to MAC NC20, Chanel 20 Claire and Dior 020. The consistency is a very lightweight fluid which holds its shape after you dispense it from the tube. One of the main issues I have encountered with tinted moisturiser is that they are thick and difficult to apply. Mineral Sheer Tint is far from that and that’s why I’m impressed with the consistency of Mineral Sheer Tint. The Mineral Sheer Tint glides onto the skin very smooth and is very hydrating. My skin appears slightly dewy and the coverage makes my skin look very natural. My skin feels very confortable and naked as if I was not wearing any tint on my skin. It was very easy to evenly distribute the tint across my skin and there were no patchy areas.

Overall, I am very pleased with ELES Mineral Sheer Tint as the formulation and overal finish of this product was suitable for my skin tone and type. The dewy finish looks lovely on my combination skin, however, due to the relatively high humidity in Brisbane (even during autumn) I would prefer to use this product during winter.

ELES Mineral Blush retails for A$39.50 and the Mineral Sheer Tint SPF20 retails for A$66.50. ELES Mineral Makeup is available in over 200 selected beauty salons and day spas in Australia and online at www.elescosmetics.com.au

Have you heard of ELES Mineral Makeup before? Do you use tinted moisturisers during the change of season towards the colder months?

xx Rose
