Beauty Queen - a pale pink shade for an elegant soft look that would compliment pastel and/or lace dresses. I honestly found this shade quite difficult to wear because I've never really worn pastel pink shades on my lips before. Instead of wearing this shade alone, I found that blotting my lips with a tissue to tone down the colour intensity and applying gloss makes my lips look a lot better and more elegant.

Fruit Tingle - a neon coral/pink salmon shade to suit bright and vibrant floral dresses or even bold one-tone dresses. Fruit Tingle is quite a striking shade which gives a soft matte finish. I love wearing coral shades because it brightens my light complexion. Fruit Tingle is quite a unique shade in my collection and I could easily wear this with most of outfits.

Sportsgirl Pucker Up Lip Crayon in Bombshell

Bombshell - a beautiful intense bright red shade that would be perfect for the black and white dress code on Derby day. Bombshell is my favourite of the 3, because it looks bold, loud and daring on my lips! The formula of Bombshell is very similar to your typical lipstick, because it applies on smoothly, feels uber moisturising (surprising for a lip crayon!) and is extremely pigmented with a satin shine finish.

I love that these crayons are slightly rounded but pointed at the tip so that you could accurately apply on the go and create a super sexy cupids bow to your upper lip. The formula stays put very well and doesn't smudge, bleed nor slide. Just make sure that you apply neatly and carefully, otherwise it would be difficult to tidy-up due to the high affinity of the formula to the lip. Although these Pucker Up Lip Crayons in Beauty Queen and Fruit Tingle are matte, the texture was incredibly creamy and they glide on smoothly thanks to the Shea Butter ingredient. Just like most matte lip products out there, these crayons do not provide moisture and hydration to the lips like most lipsticks would, so that explains why it is a little drying to the lips. I would suggest applying lip balm, just to avoid dry lips. The only exception is with the shade Bombshell, which I found was totally moisturising! Despite the drying factor, the pigmentation of these creamy matte crayons is exquisite and uber beautiful! This is why I love the look of matte lips! Even though these lip crayons provide nothing but a burst of long lasting colour to the lips, they sure do last a good 3 hours before fading to a soft flush of colour.

Sportsgirl Make Believe: I Scream for ICE-CREAM!

 The sun was shining bright and beautiful today and that makes a great day for ice-cream! Today at King George Square, Brisbane, Sportsgirl's ice-cream van arrived to celebrate the launch of the new Sportsgirl Make Believe magazine filled with gorgeous dresses and fashion for this summer!

I enjoyed my Sportsgirl hundreds and thousands soft serve ice-cream (before it started to melt!) and also flicking through the Sportsgirl Make Believe mag under the sun!

Sportsgirl Accessory Haul + Nail Rock

There are sales everywhere for the end of financial year sales. During the weekend, I went to Sportsgirl and there were a huge range of accessories on sale at 50 % of the red ticketed price. I came home with a few bits n pieces including some innovative and funky 'nail wraps'.

'Stick-on' nail strips/wraps have become a huge success this year as the funky and trendy designs are bound to attract everyone's attention! I discovered Nail Rock at Sportsgirl and picked up the design called 'Gold Lace on White'. Nail Rock is based in the UK and you can find their whole range of designs here.

I'm yet to try these on as I'm planning to wear these when I go interstate next month. Each pack includes 24 nail wraps and is made in the UK. The nail wraps, as they call it, are wide enough to fit on your toes! So, if you're going to wear them on your finger nails you can always trim the edges.

You need heat (hair dryer)  to apply these Nail Rock Wraps to your nails. I'll include a description from the site to this post on how to apply them and I will write up a review when I've tried these on. 

How to apply Nail Rock:

1. Ease back cuticle and ensure nails are bare and free of nail polish.
2. Shape and file the nail edge.
3. Gently remove surface shine using a nail buffer or a smooth nail file.
4. Select Nail Rock Wrap that best suits your cuticle size. These can be trimmed to fit if needed.
5. Do not touch the adhesive side of the wrap that will be used on your nail.
6. Place at the cuticle edge and apply heat from a small or travel hairdryer for a few seconds until the wrap is hot, soft and pliable.

It is important to keep the Nail Rock hot and pliable throughout the process, heating until it goes soft at each stage. The heat activates the adhesive and allows Nail Rock to fit over the curve of the nail. 

7. While the wrap is still hot, applying firm pressure, press the wrap down onto one side of the nail. Re-heat, making sure the wrap is soft again and firmly press it down onto the other side of the nail.
8. Heat again and push firmly over the entire nail for a secure fit. If there is a crease; re-heat, gently lift the wrap off the nail and reapply adding further heat and firm pressure.
9. To complete the seal, heat the whole area again and then gently pull the excess part of the wrap over the filed edge of the nail so that the shape of the edge becomes apparent through the wrap. Pull firmly but be careful not to stretch the wrap.
10. File off excess wrap at the end of the nail in a downward motion with a fine wooden file.

A little practice, careful removal of the shine from the nail, plenty of heat and firm pressure will result in a stunning, long lasting finish. 

The process sounds quite lengthy and the use of heat from a small handheld hairdryer sounds tedious, though I do hope these nail wraps last long on my nails.

Sportsgirl Social Knitworking Event

 Who loves Sportsgirl? Me! Who loves to knit? Me!

A few days ago, I was feeling quite excited about receiving an invitation from Sportsgirl inviting me to join in their knitting workshop held after-hours. I haven't knitted since I was in highschool, so I'm glad I've been given the chance to get back into it again! 

Sportsgirl has given the chance for a small group to create their own knitted masterpiece at their ‘Social Knitworking’ events happening around the nation. They are setting up a creative space for small circles of Sportsgirls to get knitting, complete with a tutorial on how to knit with a professional knitter.

I arrived right on the dot at 6 pm at Sportsgirl where I was greeted by the lovely Sportsgirl manager and invited to drink hot tea, coffee or a refreshing glass of orange juice. As I walked through the store, there were seats set up at the centre of the store with a cardboard knit kit box on each chair. These knit kits contained a pair of jumbo knitting needles, five balls of wool (one of each colour from Sportsgirl) and a 'how-to' guide to create a beautiful scarf. 

I met the lovely Jedda-Daisy Culley who was an awesome tutor who taught us how to do cast- on/off and a knit and purl stitch. During the event we were served these gorgeous bright yellow, red, blue and green iced mini cupcakes with pretty silver glitter dusted over, cream cheese and lettuce sandwhiches and some delectable truffles =).

I had a fantastic time at this Sportsgirl Knitworking Event and I came home with a VIP goody bag which was filled with cute gifts (also received a SG labelled bottle of water-not pictured).
