Minimalistic Nails with a Hint of Sparkle

I love the look of soft shades of nail polish and Essie Minimalistic is one of my favourite shades to wear as the milky soft pink looks lovely and elegant on my nails, perfect for any occasion. Minimalistic is just stunning that I think it would look beautiful to wear if you were thinking about bridal nails. I painted two coats of Essie Minimalistic and one coat of OPI Katy Perry Teenage Dream to the tips as the sunny was shining bright today, so I thought the reflection of the micro and chunky glitters would look pretty under the sun!

What are you wearing on your nails today?

NEW: Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil (Protection) and Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil (Firming) will be launching in Jurlique boutiques and counters in Australia on the 25th of March 2013 to stand alongside one of Jurlique’s best selling skin care product, Skin Balancing Face Oil (Hydration)!

These multi-action facial treatment oils specifically targets a skin concern, whether you require, skin protection, firming or hydration, and balances the skin moisture levels with 100% natural botanical and essential oils. Jurlique Facial Treatment Oils are formulated without Paraben, PEGs, Colourants and Preservatives.

When I received the Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil to trial, I was excited to determine how this face oil folds out to grant my skin a healthy glow!

Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Oil contains precious oils and antioxidants such as Olive, Grape Seed, Soybean Oil, Avocado Oil, Squalene and Blackcurrant Seed to draw out excess sebum from pores, strengthen the skin’s barrier function and prolong the ageing of skin. The list of luscious ingredients doesn’t just stop there! Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Oil also contains precious botanicals and unique Biodynamic blends consisting of Chamomile, Spilanthes and Horsetail. This Biodynamic blend helps to rebalance the skin moisture level, nurture and nourish the skin while help restore the skin’s radiance. It’s no wonder that this light golden face oil evokes a wonderful and uplifting scent of aromatics, which relieves my senses and replenishes my skin.  My skin feels smooth, soft and supple that I just can't get enough of this face oil!

I normally dispense a couple of drops of the lightweight Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Oil onto my fingers and gently massage onto my face prior to applying my night cream – this way I could maximise the benefits of using my night cream. As I apply the Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Oil while taking a deep breath, my skin and body feels deeply relaxed, as the scent is incredibly divine! The face oil is non-greasy and doesn't leave any greasy residue after application.

Another great way to use this face oil is to apply a few drops to the skin prior to using a facial mask as the skin will remain moisturised while nourished after rinsing our the face mask. Alternatively, applying a few drops to the neck and décolletage also helps to nourish and boost hydration as often the neck and décolletage are neglected when applying skin care products to the face.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Oil is an excellent facial treatment oil which simply hydrates, nourishes and gives me a lovely relaxing experience as a night treatment product.  It’s also great to see that Jurlique has extended their facial treatment oil range so that you could use one that specifically targets to your skin concern.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil, Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil and Skin Balancing Face Oil retails for A$65/50mL each. Jurlique products can be purchased online or in-store.

Currently there is a Jurlique GWP offer with every purchase online where you could choose a 2-week deluxe sample of one of the three Jurlique Face Oils. Enter the code BALANCING, PROTECTION or FIRMING at checkout before 20th March 2013 11:59pm CST. Offer is only available at www.jurlique.com.au.

Autumn Beauty with ELES Mineral Makeup

The Autumn season in Australia is in full swing and what's more exciting than the stable humidity level at 70% and the continual change between the rain and sun are some ELES Mineral Makeup products that I've been trialing in the last few days!

ELES Mineral Makeup - 'Sourced from nature, fused with science... Skin life-sustaining minerals, the purest elements of the earth, are essential to the ELES line. Micronized minerals protect and correct skin without irritation. Minerals are a chemical free sun-block, naturally shielding the skin against damaging ultra-violet light. Their powerful light-reflective properties also make flaws and imperfections look less visible.'

ELES Mineral Makeup - 'Our skin-safe formulas contain no potential irritants, such as fragrance, oil, talc and dyes. Every formula is hypoallergenic and oil-free.'

The first time ELES Mineral Makeup was put into the spotlight of The Beauty of Red Roses was last year where I reviewed my cult favourites ELES Mineral Blush and ELES Mineral Sheer Tint here. Today I will be reviewing the ELES Pore Perfecting Face Primer (A$62/28g), ELES Gemstone Finishing Powder (Corrector) (A$101.50) and ELES Liquiliner in Anisette (Black) (A$48.25).

ELES Mineral Pore Perfecting Face Primer

ELES Mineral Pore Perfecting Face Primer is ideal for normal to combination skin types and the oil-free formula contains a Dermat Complex™which abdorbs oil and reduces the appearance of pores. The formula also contains Salicylic Acid to help prevent pores from clogging up as the primary role of Salicylic Acid is too prevent excess natural oil from the skin to interact with dead skin cells which form blackheads and whiteheads deep into the pores. The texture of Pore Perfecting Face Primer is smooth and the consistency is just about right to evenly distribute the product across the face. The ivory lightweight primer penetrates the skin quickly and minimises the appearance of pores. My skin feels very comfortable as the formula is virtuously weightless while leaving a perfectly smooth canvas for foundation. The oil control of this primer was excellent as the shine was kept at bay, however, after about 6+ hours I did notice that the shine started to show up along my T-zone.

ELES Gemstone Finishing Powder

ELES Gemstone Finishing Powder is available in three beautiful shades: Corrector, Bronzer and Blusher. Each compact contains four shimmering shades which impart a beautiful healthy glow when blended together. I have Corrector which has shimmering shades of pink, green, lilac and yellow which is used to help reduce the effect of Rosacea (redness). The powder contains White Sapphire Complex which helps to minimise skin imperfections. I personally did not notice significant improvement to the redness of my skin, however, I adore the healthy glow that this Gemstone Finishing Powder in Corrector produced. The fine shimmers and the shades of this Gemstone powder is quite versatile as it can be used to highlight and illuminate the skin complexion by blending all the shades carefully onto my cheeks and forehead or can even be used to highlight the nose, brow bone and inner corners of the eyes using a small brush to apply on the yellow/pink shades individually.

ELES Liquliner

ELES Liquliner in Anisette is a jet black liquid eyeliner that is a must-have in my makeup routine! The Liquiliner applicator is ultra slim-lined and flexible which glides smoothly along the entire lash line and helps to define, shape and accentuate the eyes with ease and precision! The Liquiliner dries and sets within 20 seconds of application and the fabulous part is that it does not smudge, smear or migrate as the day progresses. An interesting fact is that ELES Liquiliner contains a complex called Bio-Boost which is a 100% natural algae complex containing natural phytohormones and bio transformed Ginger Root which helps stimulate hair follicles, thus, improving the length and volume of lashes. So not only do I use ELES Liquiliner to define my eyes, but to also enhance the growth and nature of my lashes! Let's hope for longer lashes in due time!

NEW Sisley Phyto Blush Eclat in Pinky Berry

Sisley Phyto Blush Eclat in Pinky Berry (A$90/7g) is part of the new Belle de Shanghai A/W'13 Colour Collection which launches in Australia on the 11th of March 2013.  This new blush is embossed with a chic zebra pattern which is in sync with the design of the compact. The large in-built mirror allows me to view my full face profile and the brush is dense and soft, both are put into good use, unlike most compacts where the mirror is too small and/or the blusher brush is too harsh against the skin. Phyto Blush Eclat comes in a signature Sisley black velvet pouch, so you can safely carry the compact in your handbag or cosmetic bag when you're out and about.

The active ingredients of Phyto Blush Eclat aims to benefit the nature and texture of skin: Rosehip (tones), Gardenia (softens and moisturises), Gingko Biloba (fights free radicals), Corn (nourishes and hydrates), Woodmallow (moisturises and softens) and Linden (softens and soothes).

The zebra print of the Phyto Blush Eclat in Pinky Berry is made from two shades of pink: a soft highlighter pink for a fashionable glow and a deeper berry pink blusher for contouring the cheekbones. It's worth noting that the previous version of Phyto Blush Eclat contained the highlighter and blush which were separated in the compact, however the newer version has both shades interlaced in stripes which makes it a little difficult to apply the two shades individually. Despite this, it is still possible to use the shades separately. Though in my opinion, the best look comes from swiping the brush over both shades.

Pinky Berry appears lighter on the skin than what you see in the compact. The blush goes on sheer, but it is buildable. The powder of Phyto Blush Eclat is quite solid in the compact and also finely milled, which is probably the reason why it applies on sheer upon the first application. Pinky Berry appears very natural and it also provides a beautiful luminous yet subtle glow to the cheeks with a hint of a soft flush. My complexion looks a lot brighter and fresh with a healthy glow.

Sisley Phyto Blush Eclat is quite exy, though the quality and benefits that this blush offers is what makes this high end blusher one of my current favourites. The shade Pinky Berry is suitable for light to medium skin tones and it really is a gorgeous shade for everyday wear.

Sisley Phyto Blush Eclat will be available from 11th March 2013 at David Jones department stores nationally. There are five Phyto Blush Eclat shades available: Peach, Pinky Berry, Mango, Pinky Rose and Pinky Coral.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF15

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF15 (A$19.99/75ml) protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays and aims to hydrate and even skin tone and texture with core ingredients of total soy complex and natural light diffusers. The formula is oil-free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic - these are one of the main factors I usually look for in skin care products. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser is an opaque white lightweight moisturiser which absorbs relatively well without leaving any traces of residue or any sticky finishes. However, once the moisturiser absorbed into my skin I could notice miniscule shimmers under certain lighting which give a lovely glow to my complexion

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser is housed in a sturdy pump bottle which has a lock mechanism, so it's great to carry around when traveling. Just a couple of pumps is adequate for one application. The full size amount is 75ml which is quite large compared to most moisturisers which are available in 30ml and 50ml sizes.

My skin type is combination/oily and this moisturiser left my skin looking slightly oily towards the end of the summer day. I typically use an oil absorbing primer in order to control the shine, so for me I cannot keep the shine at bay when using this moisturiser. Instead of applying this moisturiser to my face I've been applying it to my decolletage and the back of my hands as it hydrates and protects at the same time. I like the soft and lightweight consistency and after application my skin feels bare, as if i haven't applied anything onto my skin at all.

I would recommend this moisturiser if you have dry skin and as for those who have the same skin type as me, using this moisturiser on the face during winter when the skin feels parched would be beneficial. It's essential to apply products containing SPF onto the skin throughout all seasons of the year, so I'm glad that Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser contains SPF15.

Do you apply products with sunscreen every single day of the year?

The Secret of Goat's Milk by Natural Secrets

Did you know that Goat's Milk (a.k.a. Caprae Lac) is one of the best remedies to relieve and reduce the effect of eczema, dry skin, irritated skin and problematic skin conditions? Not only is Goat's Milk beneficial for skin conditions, it is also a great alternative to regular soap to smooth skin leaving it feel soft and supple - this explains why Cleopatra used to bathe in a tub filled with milk as a moisturising aid to keep her skin looking lovely.

Natural Secrets is an Australian based company which produces and stock a wide range of Goats Milk Skin Care products. Goat's Milk is a natural ingredient that can be found in a range of soap and skin care products to nourish while improve skin texture. Natural Secrets Goats Milk Skin Care products are:
  • Australian made and environmentally friendly
  • Enriched with Vitamins A, C,D and some B's which are powerful antioxidants (about 50% more Vitamin A than Cow's Milk)
  • Enriched with Amino Acids and Zinc, which facilitates the production of collagen
  • Enriched with Milk Proteins which help to kill acne-causing bacteria, Lactic Acid which provides alpha-hydroxy (AHAs) benefits and prevents the build-up of dead skin cells
  • NOT tested on animals
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-free
  • Paraben-free
  • Phosphate-free
  • Petro-chemical-free
My main skin concern is dryness due to the harsh environment and sometimes lack of body hydration. Goats Milk Moisturising Hand Cream (A$6.95/80ml) and Hand & Body Cream (sample size shown in photo) are both lightweight, hydrating and moisturising creams which feels really great on my skin. To keep my skin feeling silky smooth and supple, I apply the cream twice a day, after my morning shower and before I go to bed. Due to the lightweight consistency of the cream it actually absorbs quickly in a matter of seconds

Natural Secrets Moisturising Soap (A$3.60/100g) is an excellent alternative to my everyday bar of soap as the creamy and super moisturising soap made from Goats Milk feels so gentle and nourishing against my skin. Even though this is a bar of Goats Milk soap it seems a LOT like a moisturiser! It melts in my hand, however, it does not dissolve quickly like a regular bar of soap, so in my opinion it lasts longer under the condition that you leave it in a well drained soap dish. Goats Milk soap from Natural Secrets may seem a little bit more expensive than regular soap, however, once you get the feel of Goats Milk soap you will get hooked!

Natural Secrets is available at Priceline and selected Pharmacies nationally. For more information please see Natural Secret's website here and/or view their Facebook page here and Twitter here.

Neutrogena Makeup Removing Products

Since I was a teen, I've been an avid user of Neutrogena skincare products, I especially love their invigorating facial scrubs as my skin always ended up feeling squeaky clean deep down inside those pesky pores of mine. These days, wearing makeup is part of my morning routine to protect my skin from the harmful sun rays and to achieve an even and glowing skin tone with a touch of blush. Hence, at the end of the day, using makeup removing products which help to remove makeup and eliminate any impurities absorbed onto my skin is a must to ensure my skin stays fresh and clean. Recently, I was sent three products from the Neutrogena Blue Line range to trial and since trialling, I've been one happy camper!

Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover (A$10.89/112ml) is a dual phase makeup remover which is strong enough to remove the most difficult and waterproof eye makeup you could imagine. I thought cleansing oils were superior in terms of removing eye makeup, however, Neutrogen Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover has proved to be even better. The dual phase formula must be shaken before use in order for it to work it's magic. The formula contains aloe and cucumber to soothe skin and is 100% oil-free, leaving no greasy residues on my skin. Since the top of the bottle is wider than most other makeup removing products out on the market, I normally place a cotton pad on top and shake the bottle once or twice. Then, gentle dabbing the cotton pad over the skin a few times helps to remove all traces of eye makeup. There was no tugging and irritation to the skin/eyes which was a great thing as the formula has been dermatologist developed and ophthalmologist tested - it's safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes (A$7.99/25 towelettes) are super smooth and feels velvety and soft just like a baby's bottom! The towelette has a pleasant and calming scent to it and works effectively to dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and makeup. My skin felt very relaxed, calm and very smooth! It was so easy to remove all the makeup from my skin with just a few swipes using the towelette. For waterproof eye liner and mascara, I found that using the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover prior to using the towelette helped to remove the eye makeup residues a lot easier. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are alcohol free and allergy tested.

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Scrub (A$11.99/125ml) is a very gentle scrub which contains miniscule orange microbeads dispersed in a milky opalescent formula to help cleanse while exfoliate the skin. The scrub works deep into pores to remove any traces of impurities and because the microbeads are so gentle to the skin you can use it on a regular basis, rather than just 2 or 3 times per week. The scent reminds me a lot like orange peel which I find very pleasant and I enjoy using skin care products which contain a delightful citrus scent to it. Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Scrub is soap and oil free, non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested.

Overall, Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes and Fresh Foaming Scrub are excellent makeup removing products if you have sensitive skin. Each of these products worked really well to remove even the most difficult waterproof makeup and another bonus is that they are so affordable, I absolutely recommend trying one of Neutrogena Blue Line products!

Do you incorporate Neutrogena skin care products to your skin care routine?

NEW Sisley Belle de Shanghai A/W'13 Colour Collection

Sisley Belle de Shanghai Collection
In Australia on the 11th of March 2013, Sisley will be launching the Autumn/Winter 2013 Colour Collection: Belle de Shanghai. The Belle de Shanghai collection is inspired by the  1920's beauty and femininity in Shanghai - the far east of China.

Sisley - 'Welcome to Shanghai in the Roaring Twenties where Eastern femininity is fully unleashed. Femininity can be seen on lips painted in fiery red for confident sophistication or nude pink for a fresh, natural glossy smile. The eyes flaunt warm, heady, smouldering shades, intensely coloured or suitably highlighted, but always dramatically elongated. The complexion is smooth and flawless, matte and opalescent. The face is structured and enhanced by a soft, pink blusher.'

The Belle de Shanghai colour collection includes the following:

Phyto Lip Gloss in Rouge or Beige Rose (A$50), NEW - Phyto Lip Glosses launched last year and was part of the S/S'12 Colour Collection. Rouge is a vibrant red and Beige Rose is a soft pink with a hint of beige, you can read my review on the Phyto Lip Glosses here. Phyto Lip Gloss softens, moisturises and protects the lips to give a glossy and shiny finish to the lips.

Phyto Levres Perfect in Beige Natural (A$62), not pictured - Phyto Levres Perfect is a dual end lip pencil with a smudging tool on one end. This lip pencil aims to allow for a perfect and precise lip-lining action to define the lip contour.

Copper Touch (A$50) - Copper Touch is a versatile cream eyeshadow which can be used to apply as an eyeshadow, liner or bronzer.

Phyto Ombre Eclat in Burgundy, Ultra Violet and Sorbet (A$55) - These Phyto Ombre Eclat shades are inspired by the atmosphere of Shanghai smoking rooms. Think soft, sultry and smoky eye effects.

Instant Perfect (A$80) -  Instant Perfect is a matifying product to be applied to the face as a makeup base to absorb excess sebum, reduce the appearance of pores and refines skin texture.

Phyto Blush in Pinky Berry (A$90), NEW (reviewed here) - Phyto Blush in Pinky Berry is one of the newest additions to the Sisley cosmetics line. The natural, softening and contouring blusher applies on sheer to sculpt the cheekbones and it comes packaged in a funky zebra print compact.

What are you thoughts on the selection of products and shades in the Belle de Shanghai collection?
