Christian Dior Prêt-à-Porter S/S’13 Collection

I am completely mesmerised with the Christian Dior Prêt-à-Porter Spring Summer 2013 collection by Dior creative director Raf Simons. The theme exudes ‘liberation, both historical to the house and personal to himself’.

Raf Simons – ‘I am a fan of minimalism. It is a conceptual approach I like, but it is not the only one I like. Neither is it only one type of woman that I want to appeal to.’

The beautiful vibrant eye makeup look was designed by the man himself and created by makeup artists Tyen and Pat McGrath.

Pat McGrath – ‘Techno Butterfly look that draws attention to the eyes with intense geometric colours, studded with ‘bursts’ of Swarovski crystals in matching or contrasting shades.

The spectacular colours and ‘Techno Butterfly’ design to the eyes looks stunning while rest of the makeup is kept neat and minimal. Just apply a thin line to the upper eyelid with black eyeliner, mascara to achieve fluttery lashes and a natural, unified and powdered complexion with subtly highlighted rosy cheeks was all that was required to complete the look.

Are you in LOVE with this look as much as I am?

xx Rose

TONI&GUY featured at the ELLERY Fashion Show

The TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Collection products were used on the models at the ELLERY Fashion Show at the Paspaley Polo in the City event in Sydney to create a sleek and simple hair bun look. The main stars from the  TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Collection were the Volume Plumping Mousse, Classic Shine Gloss and Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray.

To get the beautiful hair bun look featured at the Ellery Fashion Show, prep the hair with Volume Plumping Mousse (A$15.99/222ml) from the roots to the ends and then blow dry into the hair with a slight bend through the ends. Volume Plumping Mousse helps to add volume to the hair right from the roots to give naturally voluminous hair.

TONI&GUY - ''Get body and bounce where it matters most; the roots. Salon inspired formula adds long-lasting body to fine, limp hair without weighing it down. Before heat styling, work product from root to tip of towel dried-hair.''

Now, work a centre parting into the hair to the top of the head and brush all the hair into a low pony tail, at the nape of the neck, and secure with an elastic hair tie.

To give a smooth and sleek finish to your pony tail, use a couple of pumps of Classic Shine Gloss Serum (A$15.99/30ml) and run through your pony tail to evenly distribute the serum. Classic Shine Gloss is an extremely lightweight serum with a thin consistency, which makes my tresses feel smoother and look shinier for a healthy look. My hair doesn't even feel the slightest bit greasy nor weighed down!

TONI&GUY - ''Lightweight formula helps control frizz and flyaways for ultra- smooth shine. Rub 2-3 pumps of serum between palms and work through lengths and ends of dry hair avoiding the roots. Use after blow-drying to seal cuticles.''

Create a bun by wrapping the end of your pony tail around and use bobby pins to secure the bun.

To finish, spray Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray (A$15.99/250ml) to keep your hair in place all day. Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray is a fast drying finishing spray which prevents flyaways and frizz at bay. Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray provides a strong hold without making my hair appear too stiff and feel sticky.

TONI&GUY - ''Get definitive hold and control that takes you from day to night. Anti- static and anti-humidity protection. Spray evenly over dry, styled hair. It’s  firm, reliable hold without stiffness makes it ideal for up dos.''

TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe collection is available in Woolworths, Coles, Priceline and Big W. For more information on TONI&GUY products please see the following link: www.hairmeetwardrobe.com

Have you used any products from the new TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe collection?

Paris Fashion Week – Sam McKnight for Pantene S/S ‘13

Global Stylist Ambassador, Sam McKnight, created a ‘Global Exotic’ look for the Vivienne Westwood S/S ’12 show during the Paris Fashion Week event last month. The Global Exotic hair looks features a foppish masculine quiff to Baroque inspired bouffant to soft romantic maidens using a variety of different hair textures and patterns.

Sam McKnight shares with you how to achieve the masculine quiff featured on the models at the Vivienne Westwood S/S ’13 show:

1.     Cleansing and conditioning the hair is the utmost important step to provide the perfect base for styling. Sam recommends Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Shampoo and Conditioner, which helps to give your hair minimal weight, maximum hydration while simultaneously eliminate frizz and give hair that does not look flat. One of the great things about the Aqua Light Shampoo and Conditioner is that they are free from silicones.

2.     Apply a decent amount of Pantene Pro-V Body Builder Mousse to damp or dry hair and then blow-dry hair. I would suggest sectioning the hair and apply the mousse bit by bit for an even application.

3.     Clip away the top section of hair leaving hair in place each side from the arch of the eyebrow downwards.

4.     Apply Pantene Pro-V Intensive Damage Repair Oil into the two side sections and using a fine toothcomb to smooth out the hair pull the two side sections together and secure at the back of the head.

5.     Release the top section of hair and blow-dry using your fingers to lift the roots to give more volume.

6.     While leaving the sides in place, remove the hair elastic at the back of the head. Use Pantene Pro-V All Day Smooth Leave in Crème as a styling aid by applying the Crème to the hair using your fingers as a rake through the ends.

7.     Finally, take the top section above the slick sides and twist into a pleat forcing a quiff at the top of the head. Ensure the quiff is set in place adding Pantene Pro-V Stay Smooth Hairspray and pins as needed.

What do you think of the masculine quiff? Will you be sporting this look this season?

Spring Racing Hair Looks featuring Herbal Essences

The Spring Racing Carnival is in full swing and luckily, Herbal Essence has introduced three race-ready hair looks, The Wavy Braid, The Chignon and The Bun, to ensure your hair looks beautiful and stylish.

 The Wavy Braid

A fun, flirty and fuss-free Wavy Braid is a gorgeous yet simple look to suit any outfit from AM to PM! A hat or fascinator worn on the side best complements the Wavy Braid. All you need to achieve this look is a hair straightener, hairspray and bobby pins.

1.     Lightly spray hair with a flexible hold hairspray.
2.     Curl hair around your hair straightener, pulling away from the root to tip and then spray hair with a medium hold hairspray.
3.     Secure your fascinator in place on one side and loosely braid hair on alternate side. Secure braid with bobby pins.
The Wavy Braid Hair Look
The Chignon

The Chignon is a beautiful and elegant look, which looks very chic and stylish! You can achieve this style with most headpieces, particularly smaller sized headpieces to show the detail of the low bun. To complete the look, all you will need is an elastic band, comb, hairspray and bobby pins.

1.     Part front section of hair and separate back section in a secure ponytail.
2.     Backcomb ponytail in large sections to create volume and spritz with hairspray. Lightly comb ponytail through to tidy up.
3.     Roll ponytail underneath to create chignon and secure in place with bobby pins and then finish with hairspray.
4.     Take half of front section and twist across back of head. Secure over chignon with bobby pins.
5.     Repeat on other side and spray with hairspray.
6.     Secure fascinator in place.

The Bun

The voluminous up-do with The Bun suits well with a statement outfit and flawless makeup! Simple yet wearable throughout the day, this look is best worn with a fascinator at an angle, or with a cute dainty headband or flower. To complete the look, all you will need is an elastic band, comb, brush and bobby pins.

1.     Secure hair in tight high ponytail and spray with hairspray.
2.     Backcomb ponytail in large sections to create volume and spray with hairspray.
3.     Lightly brush ponytail through to tidy up.
4.     Grip ponytail in one hand, hold the base of ponytail and wrap ponytail around to form a bun. Secure the bun in place with bobby pins.
5.     Secure your fascinator in place.

Milan Fashion Week - Sam McKnight for Pantene at DSquared2 S/S '13

The DSquared2 S/S ‘13 Collection show at the Milan Fashion Week was inspired by the 90’s biker chic look with big and bold gold statement jewellery, raunchy hot leather skirts and hats and lace mini dresses. What better way to team this look with glossy super straight hair.

Sam McKnight, Global Stylist Ambassador for Pantene Pro-V - ‘At DSquared2 this season it was about replicating the look of the fashion icons of the 90’s and giving it a modern day twist.  The look we wanted to achieve was a light-hearted take on the decade through beautiful, healthy, glossy, super straight shiny hair.’

Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo
Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner
To get the look using a selection of Pantene Pro-V products, start with washing your hair using Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo* (A$7.99/350ml) and Conditioner* (A$7.99/350ml). The combination of the two products makes my hair feel thoroughly clean and silky smooth. The shampoo lathers up very well and this is a great quality in shampoo for my thick and long hair. The conditioner soaks into my hair very well to detangle and hydrate my hair. After blow-drying my freshly washed hair, my hair looks and feels great.

Pantene Pro-V Intensive Damage Repair Oil
When the hair is damp, apply Pantene Pro-V Intensive Damage Repair Oil* (A$9.99/30ml) to the ends to help nourish and strengthen dry/damaged hair. The scent of the formula is relatively strong, however, it didn’t linger for long. I apply a couple of drops of Intensive Damage Repair Oil to the ends of my hair every second day to protect my hair from split ends and to keep my hair well moisturised. It’s best to apply the product every second day as I found that my hair ended up looking too oily at the ends when applied on a daily basis.

Pantene Pro-V All Day Smooth Creme
Next, use a hair straightener to straighten the hair by taking small sections of hair at a time. To finish, apply a small dollop of Pantene Pro-V All Day Smooth Light Weight Crème (A$6.99/90ml) to the hair to keep your hair looking sleek and shiny all day.

Which hair products are you using at the moment?
